I’m on the road again, traveling someplace it has been so hot and smoky the better part of the summer we might as well be standing on top of a blazin’ campfire.

Where is Felicia Filly?

Clue #1 – This filly lives across the road from an apple orchard. She said she knows autumn has arrived by the spicy scent of the apples in the air when them beautiful red orbs are plumb ripe.

Clue #2 – This here filly spent her growin’-up years on a farm. When her mama wasn’t trying to domesticate her, her daddy let her tag along on adventures, like making friends with this cute as a lil’ ol’ bug fawn.

 

Clue #3 – I got a good chuckle when this filly introduced me to some of her neighbors and said they could be real turkeys somtimes.

Clue #4 – Apparently, this filly loves John Deere equipment. She said it reminds her of her growin’ up years, riding shotgun with her daddy. That wheat chaff is the itchiest stuff. I’m sure glad I don’t have to work in it every day.

 

Clue #5 – The pasture behind this filly’s house had the most amazing, beautiful sunsets. Had me thinking of going for an evenin’ ride just for the pure pleasure of it.

Clue #6 – This filly loves to write sweet and wholesome romances. She sometimes sets them way back in the 1800s, but she also writes about modern day cowboys too. Think she could set me up on a date with one?

Howdy Folks!  Well, I’m hitting the road again, and this time I’ll be taking y’all to three different spots in this grand ole’ country of ours.  We’ll start out in the farmland of the Midwest.  This filly couldn’t wait to show me her proud kitty-cat.  See the house across the street?  See the bush on the side of the house?  This filly told me she loved playing hide and seek in the neighbors yard and her favorite place for hiding was behind that bush.  I just had to take a peek.

Can you believe it?  This filly convinced me to spend the night in her best friend’s tepee.  What fun we had even though we didn’t have a fire.  But we sure got a good night’s rest there on the ground where our sleeping bags were pitched.  Look at all those mountains back there in the distance.  Maybe next time we’ll go mountain climbing.

This filly was just busting at the seams to show me one of her favorite hiking spots.  And since her husband is from this great state of Montana, boy did we have fun on those trails!  But, oh my, how haunted the pine forest felt.  As we hiked through there, I thought I heard a ghost behind a tree.  I’m sure glad there was a fella there with us.

Can you believe it?  This filly finally brought me to her home on the and showed me their recently renovated deck.  Golly, it sure is a big deck.  Perfect for sitting outside on a mild summer’s evening and doing nothing but watch the stars in a moon-lit sky.  Now, there in the background is a good climbin’ tree, you know…lots of low branches to make the climbin’ easy.  Oh, and this filly couldn’t wait to show me the two little doggies she and her husband inherited from his sister.  Wow, we sure had fun taking a walk with them in the stunning beauty of Autumn.

Hey there, folks! I’m on the road again, this time to a place I’ve never been before, but it’s pretty far from Texas and smack in the MIDdle of the country! Right off, this filly couldn’t keep the proud grin off her face when she showed me her “office garden”–a bed right outside her office window that is filled with gorgeous blooms! I loved those yellow daisies!

 

We went inside for a tour of that office that overlooks her flowers and guess what I found on her desk! This amazing double picture of her very favorite place in the world–Paris! She told me a fun story about this special gift her friend Charlie made for her. His dad who took the top picture of the Eiffel Tower in 1953 (the year this filly was born) when he was there with the army. Turns out she took the very same shot from the very same vantage point (the bottom color pic) when she visited Paris 56 years later. It has a place of honor where she can see it every day while she works to remind her that she’ll go back one day. (Sniff, sniff, the story really touched my heart!)

 

Next, we piled into her wagon to drive to this Filly’s lake cottage just a couple of hours away from her city house, and only a hop, skip, and a jump from a pretty famous engineerin’ university where her son, her husband and she all attended college. She took me on a lovely boat ride and then for a dip in the lake–the water was like a bath since it’s so warm in her neck of the woods this summer. It was quite refreshing and reminded me of the swimmin’ hole back on the ranch where I paddled around as a kid.

After we drove back to her city house, we settled on the back deck to sip some lovely wine, have a bite of supper, and listen to the birds sing. All in all it was a delightful day!

Before I left, I asked her to show me one of her favorite books that she had written just for one more clue for y’all. She surprised me with this holiday romance she brought from her shelf. I love a good Christmas love story, don’t you?

Well, howdy everyone! I’ve hit the road again, and you’ll never guess just where I am! Though, I hope that you will, since there’s a prize for one person who does! Are you ready for a little guessing? She showed me around her home, and boy, she sure does love books! I tried to count how many of these Nancy Drew books she has, but when I got to over 200, I had to stop. She whispered to me that she has even more in boxes, and she’s run out of room!

 

I thought it was just so sweet that even though she still has children at home, and they are 18 and 13, she keeps so many of their old pictures hanging up. Can you tell they are boys, by all of those superheroes?

 

 

I asked her what sorts of things that she liked to do. She told me that while they can’t vacation this year, she’s really hoping to go next year to her most favorite place, and then showed me this huge map of Disney World she has hanging in the hallway! I think I like the sounds of Frontierland! I’d fit right in, with my cowboy hat and boots!

 

 

This Filly then wanted to show me the view from her backyard. My goodness! Those Blue Ridge Mountains are something else, aren’t they? Those goats aren’t hers, but there’s a field that backs up to their subdivision, and a farmer who alternates between hay, goats, and cows. I’d say those are some real good neighbors!

 

 

It was time for me to skedaddle, but I asked this Filly to show me one of her favorite books she’d written, to give you one more clue. This is the one that she shared!

Well now, I’ve gone and wandered clear across the country again, and this stop? Ohhh, it’s been somethin’ special. First thing this Filly did was set me down at the table with a plate piled high with cookies. I reckon she was tryin’ to sweeten me up… and I ain’t complainin’ none.

After that, we took a little walk… okay, maybe we drove for a bit first. But wouldn’t you know it—I ended up where the breeze is soft, the sand’s warm, and the water stretches out farther than my eyes can see. I tell ya, it near took my breath away.

Now this Filly’s got a knack for tellin’ stories that make folks smile, but don’t let that fool ya—she’s got more than one trick up her sleeve. I got a feelin’ she could spin a tale just about anywhere and make you believe every word of it.

Hello everyone! I just had the best time visiting one of the fillies in  her home state. I had quite the tour. I started at her home where she has really nice views! No wonder they call it Big Sky Country!

Of course it snowed shortly after I got there because the weather is unpredictable there. We had to feed the cows. I stood back, but enjoyed watching.

The snow melted in short order. Temperature swings are common here, I gather. Because of that my hosts took me to see the neighboring critters. Don’t worry–I stayed on my side of the fence.

After that we had so much fun going to the rodeo! The local cowboys were kind enough to allow me to hang around behind the chutes and watch the action!

And finally we ended the trip with a horseback ride in the mountains.

The very handsome cowboy who accompanied us held my horse and took this picture. What a sweetheart!
