Where is Felicia Filly?

Felicia Filly and Jasper, checking in while we travel to visit another filly!

Today we’ve wandered into a state that has more cows than people…not even close. 3 cows for every one person. The people and the cows like it this way.

We’re in a big ol’ state that has the strange fact of rising steadily east to west with no mountains to explain that. It begins on the east at just over 1000 feet above sea level and ends on the west at the highest spot, 5,429 feet above sea level. And yet, no mountains. The world used it for the Oregon Trail like the world’s biggest handicapped ramp. There is a sculpture garden in the largest city to celebrate those long-ago travelers.

And we  have the coolest birds…just passing through…kinda like Jasper and me. Every spring and fall as many as one million of these cranes (their name is kinda a giveaway so I’m just calling them cranes) on their way from their summer feeding grounds in the north to their warm weather winter hunting grounds in the south. Friendly critters that are over four feet tall.

And one last clue…and I,  Felicia, am a wise woman and I’m standing well back on this one…buffalo roam (in really well fenced pastures!) We used to have as many as 125 million buffalo roaming far and wide here. at one point as few as 600. Now this state has ranches full of them and have a buffalo population around half a million.

Guess the Filly

Have you figured out who I’m visitin’ yet? Drop her name in the comments.

The mystery Filly will pick a winner and send that person a $10 Amazon gift card.
