Hey there, folks! I’m on the road again, this time to a place I’ve never been before, but it’s pretty far from Texas and smack in the MIDdle of the country! Right off, this filly couldn’t keep the proud grin off her face when she showed me her “office garden”–a bed right outside her office window that is filled with gorgeous blooms! I loved those yellow daisies!
We went inside for a tour of that office that overlooks her flowers and guess what I found on her desk! This amazing double picture of her very favorite place in the world–Paris! She told me a fun story about this special gift her friend Charlie made for her. His dad who took the top picture of the Eiffel Tower in 1953 (the year this filly was born) when he was there with the army. Turns out she took the very same shot from the very same vantage point (the bottom color pic) when she visited Paris 56 years later. It has a place of honor where she can see it every day while she works to remind her that she’ll go back one day. (Sniff, sniff, the story really touched my heart!)
Next, we piled into her wagon to drive to this Filly’s lake cottage just a couple of hours away from her city house, and only a hop, skip, and a jump from a pretty famous engineerin’ university where her son, her husband and she all attended college. She took me on a lovely boat ride and then for a dip in the lake–the water was like a bath since it’s so warm in her neck of the woods this summer. It was quite refreshing and reminded me of the swimmin’ hole back on the ranch where I paddled around as a kid.
After we drove back to her city house, we settled on the back deck to sip some lovely wine, have a bite of supper, and listen to the birds sing. All in all it was a delightful day!
Before I left, I asked her to show me one of her favorite books that she had written just for one more clue for y’all. She surprised me with this holiday romance she brought from her shelf. I love a good Christmas love story, don’t you?
