Yippee! Historical western writer Kara O’Neal will arrive Friday, December 8, 2023!

This lady has delved into the subject of dyslexia. Learn how people treated others with this in the old West and any treatments that could be done. This is so interesting!

And she’s also toting a giveaway for a lucky commenter!

Come and help us show her a warm welcome and have fun too.

Now I’m off to get some hot cider made!

  1. My son is dyslexic, but over the years, he has learned how to compensates. His biggest problem is numbers and he cannot keep a checkbook, so online banking has been a big help to him.

  2. Does anyone know if students with dyslexia might be being overlooked because there are so many more “popular” maladies nowadays (ADD, ADHD, etc.)?

    • Hi! I’m the Special Education Campus Specialist for my school and have been in the role for a good 16 years now. Dyslexia isn’t necessarily overlooked. It’s hard to diagnose when kids are younger. When you’re young, you are naturally going to struggle with reading. Sometimes those struggles work themselves out as kids get older and have more practice. A lot of times, even if a kid has dyslexia, their reading issues can look the same as a kid who doesn’t have it. This can contribute to a child not being identified until they are older. I would say that Dyslexia really is the more popular disability, but only because it is the most common disability. We are testing so often for Dyslexia.
