Welcome, friends, to Week Two of our Cowboys and Mistletoe celebration!
In addition to writing sweet historical romance, my second love is quilting. For more than twenty years, a group of 8-10 friends has gotten together for Quilt Week. It’s a 10-day retreat in the Pennsylvania Amish Country. We rent a house, sharing the cost. From 9 am to 9 pm, we quilt, eat, get ice cream, shop for fabric, go out to eat, quilt…you get the picture. When we started, we came up with the idea of a Quilting Challenge. At the end of Quilt Week, we pick a new pattern or a line of fabric and come up with a quilt. The following year, we show off our creations. We have donated these quilts to shelters, veterans’ groups, and hospitals.
So, when author Zina Abbott asked me if I’d be interested in taking part in the Christmas Quilt Bride series, I gave a very enthusiastic “YES!” I already had the quilting background, so the stories came together quickly. I am so very pleased my fellow Fillies have graciously and enthusiastically accepted my offer to create this quilt for the Grand Prize.
Christmas Brides of Harmony by Jo-Ann Roberts

It’s nearing Christmas in Harmony, Kansas and the Circle of Friends Quilting group is planning the Annual Christmas Quilt Giveaway. Here, the quilts are stitched with love and where the quilter weaves dreams into reality, one thread at a time.
Noelle
A widow reluctant to love again…
A deputy determined to win her heart…
With Christmas looming, will the growing attraction between Noelle and the deputy reveal the gift of a second chance? Or could a stranger from the deputy’s past threaten the man who captured her heart?
Hope
He was the most stubborn and prideful man she’d ever met.
She was a busybody who stuck her nose in his business at every turn!
As Christmas approaches, will they look beyond each other’s faults and see a future blossom from a special, once-in-a-lifetime friendship?
Ivy
He was the town bully.
She was his target.
Had anything changed?
Was Ivy Sutton willing and able to forgive the boy who made her childhood unbearable?
Can Grady Walsh make up for the reckless actions of his youth?
Or will another steal her away before they have a chance to discover a kind of love that might heal the pain from the past?

The Great Western Christmas Celebration
Let’s start with the basics – what time period are we going to set our story in?
Will it be Modern Day? Gold Rush? Civil War? Vietnam Era? A specific decade or year? Or even some time in the future? Chime in and tell us when this Christmas celebration should take place. We’ll reveal the year/period selected tomorrow.
Everyone who leaves a response by Saturday 12/13 will get their name entered in the random drawing for a $10 Amazon gift card.

All entries will also be eligible for our oh-so-beautiful Grand Prize – a gorgeous quilt hand made by our very own Jo-Ann Roberts

NOTE: ALL winners will be announced on Sunday 12/14.
Oh I love this idea! This will be so much fun! I think a fun time period would be 1850!
Gold rush!
I agree with the above commenter…1850. Love, Love, Love your quilt!!!!!
Civil War years . A happy ending during a dark time is always welcome.
Civil war
The 1920’s.
The later 1800s period
Gold rush years.
The 1800s.
The late 1800s.
Late 1800s! Beautiful quilt!!
Just after the civil war ended, late 1860’s and 1870’s.
Let’s go with the Civil War era…
The time period will be the 1850 during the westward expansion .
Modern day please
Gold rush
I think the Gold Rush–so much was happening during that time.
I think the Gold Rush would be neat.
I live historical western romance, but I have seen very few about the Vietnam war era. I would like to read one. Maybe a little close to home since I was a teenager in the 60’s and lived through that time.

Gold rush
I think post civil war would be good. It was a very chaotic time to live in.
the Civil War
I would say the 1800’s in the west would definitely spark my interest.
JoAnn – your quilt is gorgeous. You have such a generous heart.
I would pick sometime in the Gilded Age 1870s – 1890s
Shortly after the Civil War.
I would suggest the mid 1800’s time frame, 1845-1860.
I like to sew some household items such as pillows and curtains. I admire the artistry involved in quilting.
I quilt so really enjoy books about quilting. What fun that you are in a group of quilters. My only friend who quilted passed away last year and I really miss her. My favorite time frame would be the late 1800s, out West of course, in one of the small towns that grew up. Can’t wait to read this series. Thanks for the chance to win your beautiful quilt. Stars are my favorite.
1850. Sewing relaxes me and gives me hope.
Civil War era
Because I haven’t read many books set in this particular period, I vote for the Vietnam Era.
I think the setting was Pre-Civil War. I’m remembering the Jennifer Chiaverini quilt book where a group of the women who live on the horse farm make/bake apple strudel (something I’ll never attempt – I have enough of a challenge working with ordinary pie dough!).
Modern Day gets my vote
The decade from 1945 to 1955. It’s sort of historical now and I’ve seen very few books set in that time period.
I like the time period of western expansion when people were moving west with hope and dreams of a brighter future.
I think the Gilded Age would be fun–late 1800s.
Korean War or Vietnam War. There are a ton of WWI and WWII books but Korea and Vietnam are underrepresented in fiction novels.
I would like the years in my past, 60’s and 70’s. I think that would represent in a time when things were chaotic for people in their 20’s to 30’s. At least they were for me with a young family to raise while working fulltime.
Late 1800s.
The Civil War era or Revolutionary period. No one writes of that era anymore.
Modern Day
I would like it to be set during WWII. Thank you for the opportunity. God bless you.
Civil War period. Goes to war, wounded, loses a leg?? making it harder for him to reconcile himself as deserving an angel.
Modern day.
I would say the 1800’s Thank you for the chance, God Bless You all
Modern Day

Pre Civil War Era.
Love the quilt! I like 1800s old West also.
How about the 1890s?
Modern day
Frontier mid 1800’s
All of the time periods are very interesting, for me I would choose post Civil War.
Gold rush
I would choose the 1920s.
Gold Rush
Modern day
1889
1870s–post Civil War era
I like the latter part of the 1800’s.
