If you’d told me years ago, when I first wrote Trapped in Deepwater, that the little town in Missouri would grow to six standalone books, and eventually a series, I’d have laughed. I never thought it would happen. But each time I wrote a new book, Maggie at her cafe, Reverend Sullivan, Peter at the post office, and all of the others became real. But I noticed something too. Every single story in Deepwater, someone is in need of hope and healing. And, don’t we all need a little of that?
And then, after I wrote Away in Deepwater last year, for our Christmas Stocking Sweethearts series here at Petticoats and Pistols, I realized that Deepwater was more than a little stopover. It was it’s own town and filled with its own stories and I needed to tell them.
So, this series is different from Red Ridge. It’s a little gentler. There are still surprises and twists, and things that will make you smile, but it’s also the kind where I really hope Reverend Sullivan or Maggie or anyone else who pops up on the page says just the thing that you need to hear.
The first book releases next week, and there will be ten total, though right now I just have three on preorder. The third book is being written right now, and I’m loving how it’s turning out!

Good morning Sarah! I just looked up how many of the books in Deepwater I have read. I think three of them!
I have mentioned this a few times, but Kit Morgan’s Romancing the Weavers is one of my favorites. The Weavers are a town all of their own! My mother and I still talk about it! Like they are real! LOL
I read a good bit. In 2023 I read 208 books. In 2024, I read 278. In 2025, I read 308. So far this year it is 256. I read in the evenings mostly, but sometimes on my day off.

I love how you keep track of your book count! You know, I think I have the first in that series by Kit, just not started it yet. I need to do that! I love her books too.
One wonderful town I have visited many times is Pendleton, Oregon. It has rodeos, farmers, ranchers and so much to make stories about. The residents appear from time to time in continuing tales of this town. Other towns are many beach towns such as Blueberry Ridge, Raspberry Ridge, and many more.
Ohhh those sound like wonderful places to escape to!

Is it okay to say that my very favorite fictional town is River’s Edge, Indiana. I know it’s one I created, but oh my, it was so much fun to build that world!
