Welcome to a New Year!

Howdy!  Welcome to a New Year!  Hope your holidays were full of fun, family and lots of treats!

Have you made any New Year’s Resolutions?  I won’t necessarily ask you what they are because I realize how personal these resolutions can be.  But, perhaps we could share what we hope to accomplish this next year, since these aren’t quite so personal.  So I’ll begin:

The first thing I’d like to accomplish is to finish the next Historical Romance I’ve been writing.  I’m almost done with it and hope to have it done in the next week or so and get it into editing.  It’s new title is IF SHE WERE MINE.

And then, the good Lord willing, I have three other books I’m hoping to write this year:  one is a book in a series with other authors; another is a new Young Adult, and lastly another Historical Romance in this same series featuring the medicine men, and, the good Lord willing, I’d also like to publish another 25th year Anniversary Book.  It would be a lot of writing I’ll have to do, a lot of editing and a lot of “keeping my nose to the grind-stone” so to speak.  But again, the Good Lord willing, it might be something I could do.

So what about you?  What are you hoping to accomplish in this next year?  I’d love to hear your plans and your hopes for the New Year.

I’m hoping also that you might like a sneak peek at the new cover for this new book, IF SHE WERE MINE.  And, if you will bear with me, I thought I’d do a little side-show of the other books in this series:

She Steals My Breath, Book #1 in the series.

The first time Eagle Heart sees the white woman, Laylah, her beauty steals his breath.

When a blizzard forces them together, a forbidden love blossoms between them.

She Captures My Heart,  Book #2 in the series.

United only in love, Is their love strong enough to beat back a world threatening to force them apart? Or will love triumph, after all?

She Paints My Soul, Book # 3 in the series

Caught together in a blizzard, can these two heal one another’s hearts?

She Brings Beauty To Me, Book #4 in the series

Are their star-guided paths meant only to briefly cross?

She Belongs In My World

Is this their second chance at love?

And here is the new cover for a book I hope will be coming your way in February or March of this year.

And a brief description of the plot:

Briella Feher and Red Fox are in love, and have been in love for most of their lives.  But both sides of their families forbid the marriage.

Will their love conquer their forced separation and their parents’ prejudice? Or is their love doomed from the very start?

I’d love to hear about what you hope to accomplish in the coming new year.  So come on in and let’s chat!

  1. Hi Miss Kay, I hope your New Year us going well. For my accomplishments for this new year, I need to learn how to drive. I know that’s crazy but I am hoping to finally get over my fear this year. I am also hoping to finish my original novella this year and get it out into the world.

I am super excited to read more of your incredible works and anticipating what you have coming up in terms of re releasing another of your older books which are always good, including book six of the Medicine Man series. Each cover is so artistically beautifully stunning to look at. It almost looks like the characters are real.

I am stoked to see amazing things from you Miss Kay. Happy belated New Year.

    • Hi Ashley!

Gosh, I love these things you’re hoping to accomplish. Gosh, I know of people — some good friends — who simply do not drive. So I can understand this. And, here’s to your new novella. I’m hoping you’ll message me when it’s released.

Thank you for your kind, kind words. Means the world to me. Happy New Year.

  2. I love the book cover!!! I need to go through all my books to see which ones I don’t have so I can buy them!! Happy New Year’s to you and your family!!

  3. Hey karen! I hope to read more of what I have of your stories. I’m anxious to read a certain upcoming one. I’ve been losing weight so I hope to keep it going down.

    • Hi Pam!

Yes, I’m hoping to get this story ready to send off for editing. And, yes, there is a certain character that’s all your own. : ) Good for losing weight. I need to take off a few pounds I gained over the holidays. Keep going and may this New Year be good!

  4. Another nice cover for If She Were Mine.
This year our focus will be on travel. There are too many trips we have wanted to take over the years and always put them off. Health issues are becoming a problem and will only get worse with time. I had to cancel both trips I planned for last year. I have reservations already for a reunion and reader-author conference the end of May beginning of June. In March I am trying to get a trip to Costa Rica set. The big trip we have wanted for years was to go to the Edinburg Tattoo in Scotland (a massive bagpipe band event.). It happens in August. Right now I am trying to get it set to start there the last week of August, then continue to tour Scotland, go to Ireland to see the country and do some ancestry work, then head to England to see what we can, visit where my husband’s grandparents came from and do some ancestry work there. Our daughter will be in London the middle of October and we will meet up with her. Next year I am planning one big trip that my husband has wanted for a long time – Spend a week or two in Hawaii, then cruise to Australia (the ship stops at many South Pacific Islands). There is a train tour of New Zealand on historic trains that my husband has really wanted to take and it covers much of the island. We will spend some time in Australia seeing hat we can. Coming home is such a long flight the we might find another cruise to come back. The price may not be too much different. After that we will likely be broke and won’t be doing anymore travel. That is if we survive the travel. We will see how much of all that really happens, but it is a dream. More realistically, I want to finally get my house decluttered.
I hope you had an enjoyable Holiday season and wish you a Wonderful 2026.

    • Hi Patricia!

Wow! What a year this will be, huh? You have all my good wishes behind you making these trips and doing it in health. For me, if I were to plan a trip, it would probably be to the Blackfeet reservation in Montana for Indian Days. I’ve been to that event several times before and I’ve always loved it. If I were to go this year, I think I’d like the play the gambling game they play at the pow-wow — it’s one I’ve written about at least a couple of times in my books. If you do go, I hope you’ll keep us informed. What a beautiful waltz it will be to go there … almost like going back in time. Do well this year, whatever you do.

      • Thank you. We will see how much of it we manage. We attended the Pow Wow and rodeo on the Rosebud Reservation years ago. It was a wonderful experience, one I would like to repeat again one day.

  5. All the best with the new release, Karen. I didn’t set a particular goal this year, but I do have books to write, deadlines to meet, and editing gigs to do. Life goes on…

    • Hi Nan!

Your post made me smile. Same here. Books to write and deadlines to meet. But editing… I admire that. As you know, my daughter edits and I’m always thrilled when I learn different things from her edits. Do well, Nan!

  6. Hi Kay,
I have read every book you have written, I can’t pick a favorite because I love every one of them. I’m looking forward to the new book “If She Were Mine”. And oh my goodness, the cover is absolutely gorgeous!
I am hoping to stay out of the hospital this year, it just depends on my health. Best wishes to you and your family.
    Love ?
    Starr

    • Hello my good friend, Starr,

Thank you for your kind, kind words and your friendship. I, too, love this cover. It’s my new favorite. I hope you stay out of the hospital, too, this year. And I wish all good things for you and your family. Do well this year.

  7. Hi Karen, I, have been a reader of your books since you have been writing. Time has flown, but; I still enjoy reading all your books. Reading your Historical romances is always informative about the Native American history & culture. Your plots are exciting with all the twist & turns to find love & common ground.

    • Hi Lois!

Your words and loyalty over the years lightens up my heart and really helps me to continue to write what I do. We’ve been together all these years and I feel as though you and I are fast friends, even though we’ve never met face-to-face. You are so appreicated

  8. Good afternoon Karen, Happy New Year to you and your Family, May this New Year shower you with Blessings! Your upcoming book sounds like a Great read and I love the book cover, it looks very intriguing and it is Beautiful!!! My goal for this year are to enjoy my siblings and spend more time with them. On Dec. 19 we lost one of my sisters, we were 6 , I have 3 older brothers and 2 younger sisters and my sister that is a year and a week younger than I was the one that passed away, so very sad and so very shocking as she passed away in her sleep, and is very hard to comprehend, but God needed her home and she is home with God and that consoles me. Have a Great day and a great week.

    • Good Evening Alicia,

Am very sorry to hear about your sister. I remember that George Washington’s wife passed away in her sleep, but it was due to old age. When I was young we went to Mount Vernon and I remember the guide saying this. Probably your sister was not very old. It’s hard, too, I think to have this happen during the holidays. Yes, she is with God now and so I bet she is okay.

Thank you for your compliment on the new cover. I had wanted the cover to be more colorful and my cover artist, I think, did a wonderful job. I love this cover, too.

Yes, time spent with one’s family is always good. Enjoy every minute of your time with them.

    • Hi Julie!

Yes, these are the covers for this series. I plan at least another 3 books in this seris. I’ve been working up slowly to the Wild West Shows again. I’ve written about them before and have 4 books dedicated to the Wild West shows.

  9. She Stills My Breath sounds like a great book! Love the cover for the book coming this year. Can’t wait to see the new ones. Hope you have a great new year!

      • It was so much fun to read this post! I saw this link on your Facebook and followed it over. I am a reviewer! I will send you an email. Thank so much!
