My husband celebrated a birthday a couple weeks ago, and he dropped a not-so-subtle hint about what dessert he would like to celebrate with – a blueberry banana cream pie. It’s his favorite, and I’m ashamed to admit that it’s been several years since I last made it for him.
I think this recipe must be a southern thing because, before I came to Texas, I had never heard of a blueberry banana cream pie. It’s a variation on a no-bake cheesecake, super easy to make, and always delicious.
Blueberry Banana Cream Pie
Ingredients:
- Pie shell, baked and cooled
- 1 banana, sliced
- 1 can blueberry pie filling
- 1 8 oz pkg cream cheese, softened
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1 cup whipped, whipping cream
Instructions:
- Bake and cool pie shell.
- Make filling.
- Whip cream cheese and powdered sugar until all is combined and no lumps remain.
- Whip whipping cream until stiff peaks form, measure out 1 cup, and gently stir into the cream cheese mixture. (Hint: whipping cream will come together faster and easier if you chill the mixing bowl first.)
- Slice banana and arrange the slices to cover the bottom of the pie crust.
- Add cream cheese filling and smooth to fill pie shell
- Pour half a can of blueberry pie filling on top and spread to cover evenly.
- Chill until ready to serve.

I had never heard of this either, but it sounds yummy.
It’s perfect for spring/summer. A chilled pie with a filling that’s not too heavy.
I love the recipe. A pity it cannot be sent over the Internet.

Must be a Texan thing? I’ve lived in (north)FL my whole life and not once have I heard of this. Banana pudding, yes. Blueberry cheese cake, yes. But, never the two. I’d love to try it though! Sounds delicious! And it does sound like a southern dish! My husband loves blueberry cheese cake. Thanks for this recipe Karen! Yum!
You’re so welcome, Tracy. And you may be right about it being more of a Texas thing. I’ve heard from other southerners that it is new to them as well.
Sounds delicious.
Thanks, Janice. I really need to make it more often for my hubby. He deserves to spoiled every now and then.
thanks for sharing the recipe. I love your books
You’re welcome, Sharon. And thanks for your sweet comment about my books. 🙂 I’m getting ready to start a new project, and every bit of encouragement helps!
I think I would enjoy this without the bananas even. Looks wonderful! Thank you Karen!
Feel free to adapt as you like, Kathy. The cheesecake filling is the recipe I grew up eating with a graham cracker crust and cherry pie filling on top. That’s my personal favorite. 🙂
This sounds a lot like the blueberry cheese cake that I make. I have never made it with bananas and I also use a gram cracker crust, but we love it.
Sounds yummy, Quilt lady. I love graham cracker crust! The way I first ate this version was with a regular crust, so that is the way I always make it, but variations are welcome. 🙂
Hi Karen, I’m going to try this, I’ll add the ingredients to my list for the grocery store. The banana and blueberry combination has my interest. Hmmm
Yay! That makes me happy, Karen. Hope you love it! 🙂
Sounds yummy! I love blueberries.
Perfect for spring/summer!
This is one of my husband’s favorite desserts, only I’ve never put bananas in it — although he’d probably like that 😉 — & I use a graham cracker crust. It has such a yummy, smooth texture! I’ve also tried it with fresh blueberries & strawberries on top, fresh hand-picked black raspberry sauce on top, or cherry pie filling on top. I think the original blueberry pie filling is the best, but my honey likes variety, so it’s fun to switch it up sometimes.
I’ll have to try the bananas! 🙂
Our husbands would obviously be great friends, Lori. 🙂 That hand-picked black raspberry sauce sounds DIVINE! I love raspberries and blackberries. 🙂
welcome today. thanks for sharing your recipe. I know your husband will be happy. my husband just asked for a plain blue berry pie with vanilla ice cream. I too have not made this in way too many years. So I had to do it. I am so happy I did. To see the pleasure on his face was so worth it. LOL
I agree, Lori. So worth it. 🙂
Sounds like a nice pie for the summer!!
It is, Trudy! Not only for the blueberries, but the chilled pie is great on a warm night.

I make this without the banana and use a graham cracker crust. It’s my husband’s favorite.
denise
I grew up on the cherry version with a graham cracker crust and no banana. It was my favorite!
I grew up on that one, too.
This sounds delicious. Best of all it is quick and easy. I am putting this in my recipe box and will us it this summer for a family get together. Thank you for sharing.
Yay! It will be perfect for a summer gathering. Oh, and if your family is big enough, making two pies is just as easy since one can of blueberry pie filling will cover two pies. 🙂
I enjoy seeing recipes on this blog…

I have never had a banana blueberry pie! It sounds delicious! Thank you for the recipe!
You’re welcome, Kathleen!
The recipe I have for cream cheese pie calls for condensed milk. I will have to try the whipped cream instead the next time I make one. Yours looks beautiful.
Thanks, Alice. I bet that condensed milk makes the filling extra rich. This version might be a little lighter, but you can always substitute your recipe for the filling. 🙂
