Whispers of Fortune

Legends of Gold

Riches Beyond Measure

You know…I’ve ended up really liking this lost treasure series.

It’s all released now. Sometimes, from the author’s perspective, it’s a little hard to see the whole thing while you’re in the middle of writing it.

Trust me…sometimes its hard.

The Golden State Treasure Series is in the rear-view mirror and NEXT UP

Rocky Mountain Marshals Series

Book #1 coming in February

Ambush of the Heart

It’s about my favorite cover EVER

It’s about three US Marshals driven into the mountains to escape a band of outlaws who want to break the prisoner free who they are transporting.

And the rest of the book is running, shooting, getting so so so lost. And of course…falling in love.

Ambush of the Heart

When bandits strike in the wilderness, can love and faith overcome the shadows of danger?

As Owen Riley and his fellow Marshals escort Delaney Bridger, her brother, and an escaped prisoner to Fort Russell, a gang of outlaws ambushes them, bringing death and devastation to their party. With their lives on the line and the outlaws in pursuit, Owen directs the rest of his battered group to seek hiding at a remote ranch. After the attack leaves her brother Boone seriously injured, Delaney helps Owen, nursing Boone and a wounded Marshal back to health while danger looms ever closer. Despite the threat at their heels, romance sparks between Owen and Delaney as they fight for survival on their perilous trek to the fort. Can they overcome the obstacles and find a future together? Mary Connealy presents a riveting historical Frontier series starter of adventure, love, and high jinks in the rugged wilderness of 1870s Colorado. This Western romance features a determined Marshal, a courageous woman, forced proximity romance, and a risky journey of survival.

So here we go again and starting a new series is just the most fun thing ever!!!
It’s too soon to give away a copy of Ambush of the Heart, I don’t have my copies yet. So leave a comment to get your name in a drawing for a $25 Amazon Gift Card.
Tell me about the most LOST you’ve ever been in your LIFE. I am a person who gets lost. Life is MUCH EASIER since they invented maps on phones. I once got so lost for so long in Des Moines, Iowa…looking for the library I was supposed to speak at, I can still almost cry then I think of it. Does NO ONE IN THAT TOWN READ? I’d ask directions and they’d be like…do we have a library in this town? Never heard they built one!! (okay some exaggeration…still

  1. Love the cover!

In college, I got lost trying to find a friend’s house in another state. I finally pulled over and asked to use the phone book and the phone to call and get directions.

  2. Coming home to Mississippi from Oklahoma to visit my family before GPS, id get lost in Dallas every single time, so scary busy and confusing, it was a nightmare

  3. I have never been lost. My parents thought I was lost once when I was little but I knew where I was! I decided to walk to the corner store, my Dad found me and spanked me the whole way home!

  4. That is a striking cover! I have never lived down the story of early in our marriage when we were on a driving trip, with me navigating, of repeatedly telling my husband “oh, it’s about 20 more miles”. Needless to say, we were comically lost!

  5. Can’t say I’ve ever gotten really lost. I’m good at reading maps. I would say that the most I did get lost was when Salt Lake City were redoing there highways for the olympics and figuring out how to get around it. Man what a nightmare.

  6. Good morning Mary! I also love that cover! I usually have some memory, but being lost wasn’t one! LOL I know I do not like Jacksonville! You can get turned around in big cities. As long as I can find Interstates 75 and 10, I can find my way home! LOL

I see you do have some Unlimited Kindle books coming! I’ve saved one so I can read what you write Mary! It’s Petticoats and Cowboys. So excited! I read over 250 books a year. That’s why I get Unlimited Kindle.

Best wishes on your new series! Sounds like a good one!

  7. My husband and I once took 2 hitchhikers back to their home in Baltimore MD from the eastern panhandle of WV. The one young man was in a wheelchair and their car had broken down. They were so nice and obviously gave us step by step directions to their house. These were the days before cell phones and GPS, we honestly didn’t think to ask how to get back home. We were lost on the inner and outer loop in Baltimore for so long. We finally were able to get turned around and got home. I am now so thankful for both GPS and cell phones. Haven’t been lost in a long while.

  8. Before the iPhone map I would always get lost. I don’t mean just once. I have no sense of direction. I would always have to call my husband at work to find out where I was and for him to tell me where to go. Believe me those calls turned out to be shouting matches – by me because I would get so frustrated. It has taken many, many years but I do pretty well now with Siri telling me where to go.

  9. The most lost I’ve ever been was at the Central de Abasto market in Mexico City. I was with a group of teachers spending several weeks in Mexico as a learning experience, and for some reason, I ended up in the market on my own. The market is huge, bigger than the country of Monaco and about the same size as Central Park in New York City. It sells 30,000 tons of goods daily in a city where nearly 9 million do most of their shopping there. As time passed and I couldn’t find the exit where the bus was parked (there were many exits), I began to fear the bus would leave without me. I began to pray with more fervor. When I came to an exit that had all kinds of livestock and animals for sale on the outside, I knew I was at the opposite end of where I should be, so I rushed in a straight line to the farthest exit. I was the last person on the bus, but I made it.

  10. Your new book sounds great. They always are.
My husband and I got lost in Prague, Czech Republic. We were trying to get to the train station from the airport. We were told to ride a certain bus but when we got to our destination we were at the subway station. It seemed everyone we asked kept saying we were in the right place but we weren’t. We had to go back to the airport. We found out we should have asked where the railway station was. Czechs thought train meant subway. We made it unto the last train for the day that we had to ride to get to the town my son and his wife lived in. We made it but it was quite the ordeal.

  11. I am not one to ever get lost – my intense sense of direction comes in very handy since I was a very small child!

  12. Welcome today. Congratulations on your new series. Oh but this sounds like such a fabulous series. I love your stories. They are always so full of heart and love. Can’t wait until it comes out.

  13. I’ve been lost so many times! One of the worst was when I was taking my daughter to Arkansas Children’s Hospital in Little Rock after my divorce. I had never driven there before, my ex always did, and my parents went with me so I wouldn’t be alone. The directions I had printed from Mapquest were totally wrong, and I took the wrong exit and ended up in a bad part of town. My poor dad had to get out and go into a gas station to try and figure out where we were. I had the car doors locked, praying, while all of these people were staring at us. Thankfully the man in the gas station gave my dad great directions and we finally found our way, but got lost again trying to get back to the interstate. Another stop at a gas station in another bad part of town, but my dad got good directions and I was never so glad to get back to familiar territory!

  14. I can’t say I’ve ever really been lost. However, one of my sisters was lost at Disney World! She at least had the sense to stay where she was, and Daddy found her. I had the sense to hold either Mom’s or Daddy’s hand so I wouldn’t get lost!! Other than that, the closest I got was trying to find a hotel (I was doing a “dry run” to find it the weekend before I had to go for work), and stopped when I saw two cops parked in a parking lot. I made Mom go ask for directions, though! lol!! I’d made her go with me so I wouldn’t be by myself, trying to drive and figure out where to go, too. Can you tell I’m the youngest??

  15. I always like to say I don’t get lost, I only explore. Apparently, however, my parents lost me at the Canadian National Exhibition when I was 4 years old. They found me on the playground where other children were playing whose parents had also lost them ?????
Looking forward to starting this new series!

  16. I can usually find where i am going in the daytime but sometimes I can’t find where i am going at night.

I am good at directions and can follow were I am , either North, South, East or West

  17. I have been “lost” for much of my life. When my vision took my freedom away to come and go as I pleased, I just float from one day to the next. Many times I’m not even sure what day it is! Reading helps some by putting me into someone else’s world for a while.

  18. The only time I remember being lost, my husband was driving, and would not turn around, nor ask for directions. lol

Love your new book cover also.

  19. I remember a time when we missed out exit and somehow found ourselves in another county, no idea how to get back and spend much time going in circles, it was frustrating and kinda scary, lol, but this was before we had gps

  20. I always build in lost time when I travel. My husband likes to follow GPS directions for restaurants. I knew we were lost when we pulled up to an almost collapsed building and they hadn’t mowed the lawn for us.

  21. I remember one time we were going to Pennsylvania and I was reading the map. I told my hubby to get off at this one exit but he insisted it was the next one. I didn’t argue with him. I let him go on to the next exit. We got in the middle of a parade and had a police officer tell us we should have got off at the exit I had told him we needed. I have never let him live it down.

  22. My parents took us kids to some theme park when I was younger. There were dinosaurs, and things to climb. Somehow I got separated from my family for what felt like an eternity, but was probably only like 3 minutes. My dad came back and found me. 🙂 Excited for your new book!

  23. Good morning, your book sounds and looks like a very good read!! My husband and I got lost one time while on vacation, we were in our car traveling in NM , well we did have a map and we decided to take a short cut through the desert, well, we drove and drove through the desert and it seemed like we weren’t getting anywhere, it was a little scary to me, I guess the map wasnt updated , my husband finally decided for us to go back the same way we came in and so we did and we finally got to where we were going to, so much for the short cut and good thing we weren’t on a time frame and it didn’t get dark on us. Have a great day and a great rest of the week.

  24. I just fìnished Riches beyond measure and I really enjoyed it. I lived in southern California and enjoyed learning about the history of this state.

  25. THIS IS NOT A DUPLICATE POST!I just fìnished Riches beyond measure and I really enjoyed it. I lived in southern California and enjoyed learning about the history of this state.

  26. Unfortunately, the most lost we have been, was following the GPS in our car. We call her “Maggie” and she doesn’t like Texas. Twice we put in an address and once ended up on a dirt road that was not conducive to driving a Malibu. We felt like we were in the middle of nowhere. The second time we came to a rundown house and she said “You have arrived at your destination “. We definitely had not arrived. Eventually we found our way to where we were going.

  27. Good morning. The book sounds great. The most lost I have ever been was on a trip to Iowa with my sister and my aunt. My sister was driving and it was getting late. She took a wrong turn and we finally found a store open so we could call my uncle to come get us. This was before cell phones snd it was around 11:00 at night.

  28. I was once lost and almost out of gas in my car in the busy city of Hartford CT. I asked for directions by some thugs who directed me down a dead end road. When i turned around at the end the thugs were stretched across the street. I assume they wanted to stop me but I hit the gas and sped towards them. You should’ve seen them move! I got away, found my way home and didn’t run out of gas, but what a scary time that was.

  29. Many years ago me and a friend use to go out and flip a coin to see with way to turn. You can really get lost that way and quick. I think the worse time was when we went over this hill and down this country road and I think it lead to the river, anyways we got down there and there was no way to turn around and she had to back all the way back up that hill. It was a thrill a minute. We didn’t push our luck so much anymore. I think we may have grew up a little after that.

  30. Mary,

I immediately thought ‘That’s a great cover AND he has a star on his chest!’

I don’t exactly get lost but years ago in Portland Oregon I decided to head straight from the airport to Powell’s Books in downtown and left there after dark to drive to Oregon City for a wedding the next day. It was before directions on phones but I figured if I simply headed east I’d hit the freeway at some point. It felt like a much longer drive than it actually was since I only had a vague idea of where I was or where I was going. Made it, the wedding was beautiful and we went to the End of the Oregon Trail Interpretive Center before going to the airport to leave. My nephew was with me and he still mentions how horrible my idea of simply taking off through the fields was. Oops. 🙂

  31. I got lost a lot especially when I first started driving on my own. My mantra soon became, “Just keep going straight and eventually something will look familiar.” ?

  32. I am pretty good with direction’s but I do remember the time I got lost going to my daughters in West Virginia I got off on the wrong exit so I had to stop and ask directions because I had no cell phone Thank you for this giveaway

  33. From an early age I learned how to read maps so I have never gotten lost that I can remember. It is even easier now with GPS and phone apps.

  34. We were on a way to a book event. I went to a wrong exit, but never found the correct place. We missed the event. Thank you for the opportunity. God bless you.

  35. When I was about 4 about 50 years ago my folks milked dairy cows with my aunt and uncle. Each one thought the other had me out in the barn. Well, come to find out I had wondered off to explore with our family pet dog. THey happened to notice out in the wheat field the dog’s tail wagging and the top of a blond head. Thankfully they found me before I had gone to far.

  36. I was in the car with my family on a trip to visit relatives, and we got so lost, we were practically on the other side of the island. It’s no fun getting lost!

  37. I am usually the ‘finder’ when my family gets lost, meaning I have a good sense of direction. I have been challenged by roads that are not directional true – meaning I think I am going west when I am going south. I enjoy your books and love to get ‘lost’ in one of your stories.

  38. We got lost in the Bridgerton National Forest in Wyoming. We ended up on a narrow cattle trail that finally wound around to a narrow road. That was a major relief! This series is right up my alley Mary! The book cover is perfect! Love it too. Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours!

  39. This cover is amazing and I know the story will be also. I used to travel to library conferences and I have been lost several times. Some of these adventures occurred before Google maps & GPS!

  40. I hate it went I get lost! It’s one of the more panic I during feelings. There was one time I was picking up something for someone, in a small town, and I could not find the street they were on. Come to find out it was because the street wasn’t a street so much as a dead end offshoot of a different street. Even Google maps couldn’t find it. Thankfully I called someone for directions and found my way.

  41. I really get turned around quite easily. I usually just keep on going until I find something familiar. Maps is definitely something I use regularly! I love the cover of your book!

  42. I like maps and generally have a decent sense of direction. If we do get “lost” we consider it a bonus tour. Makes for an interesting trip. We always have maps of where we are going.
The one time I got lost, I wasn’t driving and the people I was with wouldn’t take my suggestions. I am a disaster volunteer and was with several other volunteers who had been deployed for Hurricane Sandy. We landed in Philadelphia and had about a 2 hour drive to where we were going outside NYC. No one had a map and said we didn’t need one because they had GPS. We left the airport about 8 pm and lost GPS about 15 minutes later. The storm had taken out the system. I again suggested getting a map, but they wouldn’t. We drove hitting closed roads due to flooding, downed trees, and who knows what else. They kept driving around and 6 hours later we ended up back where we started. By then, there was no place open that had maps except a hotel that had one copy of a map of their hotels in the area. It wasn’t very detailed, but it did get us there. We got in about 5 am. A two hour trip took 9 hours. I made the suggestion when we got back, and now it is strongly recommended for anyone deploying to have a map of the area they are going to.
