Welcome Guest Author Nicole Flockton

Hi everyone! I’m Nicole Flockton and I’m excited to be with you all today.

Let me tell you a little bit about myself. I write contemporary romances set in cities and small towns. I also write steamy protector romances with heroes that will do anything to keep you safe. I love watching sports, with my kindle in my hand, throwing glitter around social media, tiaras and chocolate. I’ve got two adult children, one loving husband, a needy Pomeranian and two indulged cats.

If I’m a little slow in responding to your comments today, it’s because when this post goes live I shall be sleeping! Why is that you may ask? Well, it’s because I’m coming to you from the most isolated city in the world – Perth, Western Australia.

While Perth is a bustling metropolis, in terms of our location, we’re like those small country towns that don’t often get visited. Many people who live on the east coast of Australia grumble about coming to Perth because it’s so far away but for me it’s always been home and the best thing about Perth is we’re only a forty-minute ferry ride across the Indian Ocean to the cutest animals in the world – the Quokka! Now that’s worth the endless flight and losing a day from the USA to see. Or the five-hour flight from Sydney!

I should also mention that for 12 years I lived in Houston Texas. Houston definitely makes Perth look like a small town.

My latest book Headstrong Cowboy is set in Tule Publishing’s iconic small-town Marietta Montana and is part of a 4-book series centered around the annual Copper Mountain Rodeo. I was so excited to contribute to the legacy of Marietta and created the Bloom family, who run a flower farm in Marietta – something a little different than them running a ranch.

Chrysanthemum (Chrissy) Bloom, is the oldest daughter and she’s back at the farm after her divorce and the sad passing of her former husband. The farm is in financial difficulties and she feels it’s her responsibility to save it.

Ryder Chamberlain, is a bull rider who was forced to end his career earlier than planned due to injury. He’s landed in Marietta to fulfil a wish from his long-deceased mother, a wish he didn’t know about until recently. Only to do that, he’s going to have to go head-to-head with Chrissy.

The book is full of family love, secrets and two people who find out that what they thought they wanted is the opposite of what they actually need. Guaranteed happy ever after, it is a romance after all.

Headstrong Cowboy

When Chrysanthemum Bloom returns home to the family flower farm after her father’s death, she finds it on the brink of bankruptcy. Her mother is determined to sell it, but Chrissy believes she can turn the business around if given the chance. She enters the Copper Mountain Rodeo’s barrel racing competition in the hope of winning some prize money, never mind that she hasn’t competed in years.

Ryder Chamberlain’s bull riding career ended suddenly when he lost an argument with the bull he was riding. Following his late mother’s wishes, he arrives in Marietta, determined to reclaim what had been taken. The Bloom Flower farm sits on land once owned by his kin and is Ryder’s for the buying, until he meets Chrissy and discovers it’s not going to be an easy purchase after all.

Both Chrissy and Ryder are determined to win the fight for the farm, but the unexpected attraction that flares between them has them both wondering if, instead of fighting, becoming a team is the best outcome for all.

  1. I’m just a 2 hours from the ocean or mountains, and I can be at the top of the bay in 20 minutes. We get four seasons, and it’s a wonderful little town in a suburban area.

  2. We live in a small town in Central California. It is a close knit community that cheers for our kids and is full of small town vibes

  3. I live in a small town in North Carolina. What’s special about NC is that we have both mountains and the ocean close by. The autumn leaves are gorgeous in October. I live halfway between the ocean and mountains.

  4. I live in North Carolina. It’s so nice to have the ocean and beaches in the east, the mountains in the west, and a variety of interesting things to do in the middle of the state in the Piedmont.

  5. Welcome Nicole! Well, I’m in Florida! We don’t shovel snow! We just dodge hurricanes! Very blessed so far this year! I like our weather most of the time. We are near a small town near Gainesville. I am a Floridian native. I don’t know any better! LOL I like we are near water. Whether it be lakes, rivers, or the beach. We aren’t far from any of those !

    Best wishes to you Nicole!

    • Thank you! We went to Florida a couple friend and the weather is very similar to Houston. Glad hurricane season has been dodging you this year.

  6. I love that I live in a small town and that I am only about 3 miles from a larger town that has the things I need, like stores and restaurant. I enjoy my neighbors and we all get along great. I grew up in a small community so it kind of reminds me of that in a way.

  7. I love living so close to the mountains. Especially in fall when we can go to the apple houses and buy fresh apples!

  8. I live in Florida. The weather is usually good especially in the winter. No snow or ice berg temps!

  9. A city with history, fascinating places to explore and wonderful walks through the beauty of neighborhoods.

  10. My favorite thing about where I live is that I’m far enough from town (and have enough land) to live a country lifestyle, but I’m close enough that I can run to the store if I have a sudden urge to bake cookies. I also love that my girls are the 3rd generation to live on our property, which my grandfather bought for my mom when she got married, and will be the 4th generation to own their great-grandparents’ land, which was passed to my mom because her brother didn’t have any children. My sister owns 25 acres that belonged to my dad’s family, and my kids will also inherit it someday.

  11. Living in a place where unique beauty surrounds you is wonderful. The skies stretch on forever and give me a feeling of peace and serenity. Outdoors is special and being outside is enjoyable.

  12. Welcome, Nicole! We’re so happy you’re here. In Texas, there are tons of small towns and communities and they always have unique events. Small towns can be fun or irritating when they know all your business. At one time I lived in a town with a populations of 400 and I quickly found it can be a lonely island unless I got involved with a group. I developed a wonderful relationship with the librarian and joined the church. I have since moved to a large city with lots of nearby doctors and stores. No more driving 35 miles to buy groceries. Wishing you tons of success with your new book! It looks wonderful.

  13. Good morning Nicole. wow, sounds like you live in a very nice town, and how awesome about the little animals you get to see. I live in a small town in West Texas. I love it here because every morning my husband and I take our pup and our selves on a morning walk. We get to see the sunrise and little desert critters on our walk. We walk in the desert part on our block. I like living here because our adult grown daughter and her little family live close to us, so we have gotten to watch and see our 2 grandchildren (her children) grow up . Our grandaughter is already in her 2nd year of college and our grandson is a Senior in HS, so we get to go to his activities and sports(Tennis and Band ) that are held here . Our son lives in Texas also , he lives 6 hours away though, we also have a grandson with him. I like that there is not much traffic here and the next big town is an hour and a half from us. You get to know people here so that is good. Have a great day and a great weekend. I enjoyed reading your post

    • Thank you! I think I would like living in your town because one thing I struggled with the whole time I was living in Houston was the driving. I disliked it so much lol

  14. I live in the desert of Arizona where the wildflowers are in bloom now. The desert holds many interesting things-animals not seen in any other place in the world and plants that thrive in the strong summer sun.

    • We drove through Arizona on our road trip and were wondering where all the cactus were. On the way back we headed east through the bottom part of California and then we cross the border and wham we saw all the famous cactuses! We were so happy lol

  15. Our location is great, it’s close to the mountains and all the small towns nearby, and each town has something unique and special to offer. 🙂

  16. I live in northern Ohio by Lake Erie. That means during the winter we either get a ton of snow or around a foot all winter season. (That means I’m NOT in the Cleveland area because they always get lake effect snow, a ton of it)
I’m only an hour or so from Canada (through Detroit), 3 or so hours from Indiana, Pennsylvania or Kentucky. We also have several zoos in the state! We’ve made it to most of them.

    • The really sounds like a great location with all the places you can visit. I think I’d enjoy the snow one season lol

  17. Enjoyed your article and the opportunity to learn more about your writing, too. I appreciate the “old West” history where I live.

  18. I live in the surburb of a major midwestern Midwestern city (only 10 minutes away) where major hospitals are, and good public transporation to and from that city seven days a week. Thank you for the giveaway opportunity.

  19. We live in North Central Alabama, at the bottom of the tallest point in the state. It is in the country but no further than an hour or two from so many bigger cities. We are only a few miles from the Talladega International Speedway, a few hours from the Redstone Arsenal Space Center, about an hour from Birmingham where there are great doctors and hospitals, many good restuarants, a great zoo and botanical gardens and a few hours from the state capital. Not too far from the gulf coast with its beautiful white sand beaches and about two hours from Atlanta, GA. The people are friendly and loving. Great place to live. I was born and raised here but have lived in several other states: NC, LA, CO and GA. Would someday love to visit Australia, but at my age that will probably not happen. I have always loved reading about it.

Would love to read your book, Headstrong Cowboy. Thanks for the opportunity to win the gift card.

  20. I love our many lakes, parks, and hiking trails. We also have a diamond mine where you can dig for your own diamond .

  21. My favorite thing is the theme parks and museums. When people come to visit, we can show them all sorts of things.

  22. I love that we get to experience all four seasons. We are currently seeing the beautiful leaves beginning to turn. Thank you for the opportunity. God bless you.

  23. I love that we get to experience all four seasons even though I am not a fan of summer. Since I live in the country in the mountains, the views are amazing and we get to see lots of wildlife and birds too and I really enjoy watching them. I love watching snow fall because it’s so pretty and peaceful. Thank you for the chance!

  24. I love the antiques stores and novelty shops. They’re quite a drive, but the road trip going there only makes the experience of it even more enjoyable.

  25. I love the mountains. When we have had a choice, we always live in or near the mountains. In addition to the mountains, we live equidistant from two small towns. Both are having their biggest festivals of the year this weekend. Our home town of Jonesborough is the oldest town in the state. It is the home of the National Storytelling Center and this weekend is the International Storytelling Festival. There are tellers and guests from around the world. They have many themed festivals and events all year long. It is a lovely town with many turn of the 19th century homes, replacing those that were destroyed by at least 2 major fires in the downtown area. It is a friendly place peopled by those who are involved and helpful. That was shown just a year ago when the area was hit by a major flood. Luckily it did not hit town, but caused major damage in the county and neighboring communities. One of this communities is my other favorite town, Erwin. It was founded in the late 1870’s, about 100 years after Jonesborough. It is celebrating the annual Apple Festival this weekend. It was canceled last year when the flood hit the town causing major damage. Everyone has pulled together and recovery is coming along, but the major “industrial” area was destroyed. As with any disaster, it takes time to recover and the memories linger a long time. It is also a friendly town in a slightly different way. I was the children’s librarian there in the county library for about 10 years. The library is housed in the old train station built in 1925. The town holds the dubious distinction of being the only place that has hung an elephant. Mary is buried somewhere in the train yard. It is really a sad story.

  26. Pensacola, Florida has beautiful beaches within driving distance from me. We also have some interesting historical sites as well.

  27. To me the nice year round climate is what I cherish the most about the place I live. Plus the fact that I am about a half hour from the ocean, Sea World, the world famous San Diego Zoo and the Mexican border town of Tijuana. But it’s the weather that’s the greatest.
