Winter Wonderland Romance

When I was thinking about the third book in my Winter Wishes series, I knew who the heroine would be. She was the former love of the hero in the second book, Sleigh Bell Serenade. Olivia Burton left town quite suddenly and unexpectedly, leaving Bo with a broken heart. Thankfully, he’s moved on and is ready to find his happily ever after – eventually.

Anyway, I knew Olivia needed her own sweet romance and the opportunity to fall in love. The only questions was what hero would be perfect for her.

I happened to see a cover Covers and Cupcakes had for sale one day and it just screamed “buy me for Olivia’s story!” so I did. Who was I to argue with a screaming book cover?

It was perfect for the title of Winter Wonderland Romance.

So, after studying the guy on the cover, the story for our hero, Alex Adams started to take shape in my thoughts.

Turns out, Alex is a veteran, dealing with PTSD,  and in desperate need of peace and quiet away from his well-meaning but suffocating family. Alex heads to the wintery mountain town of Pinehill with his dog, Dude. (Yes, the dog’s name is Dude and every time I type it, I might smile.)

Olivia has returned to Pinehill to take over the medical practice there when the old doctor who was her mentor wants to retire. Although her teenage self had vowed to never return to her hometown, she finds she doesn’t detest living there as much as she anticipated.

When Dude eats something he shouldn’t, Alex races to the clinic and begs Olivia to help his dog (there isn’t a veterinarian in town). She does, swears him to secrecy, and the two of them begin to form a tenuous bond.

She never wanted to return to her hometown.
He needed an escape from his family.
When a chance meeting brings them together, will their attraction keep them from drifting apart?

Doctor Olivia Burton never intended to return to her hometown of Pinehill. After graduating high school, she set off on a new path, eager to leave her past behind. However, years later, an unexpected phone call from her mentor pulls her back to Pinehill to take over a thriving medical practice as the town’s primary physician. Determined to avoid the local gossip mill, Olivia attempts to keep a low profile as she settles back into the community.

Alex Adams is desperate for an escape from his well-meaning but suffocating family. After a life-altering explosion ended his military career, he finds himself plagued with post-traumatic stress disorder. Surrounded by his loud and overbearing family only intensifies his struggles. Seeking respite, he retreats to his aunt’s mountain cabin in Pinehill, desperate for peace and quiet.

When a chance encounter brings Alex and Olivia together, the sparks begin to fly. Olivia, cautious and hesitant to let anyone into her guarded heart, begins to question if it’s time to leave her past behind and embrace the possibility of a winter wonderland romance. Alex, yearning for connection and understanding, finds himself drawn to Olivia’s warmth and kindness.

As they spend more time together, will Olivia and Alex discover that love, much like freshly fallen snow, has a way of blanketing everything in a layer of beauty?

Uncover the joys that come with new beginnings, the transformative power of love, and the magic that can be found in the simplest moments in this sweet, wholesome, and tender romance.

  1. What a beautiful plot line.

I’d go strolling with my husband. On the trail near us that’s a former RR line–several around here.

  2. This book sounds incredible! I’d stroll through a winter wonderland with my wonderful husband! We get plenty of winter where we live so I’d stay home in wonderful Wyoming and save money too! There’s skiing, ice fishing, lots of museums, lots of little shops, and very friendly people!

    • I’m good for the first 15 minutes out in the cold and snow, then I’m pretty much done for the rest of the winter! Ha! Admiring the beauty from indoors where it is warm and cozy is my idea of enjoying a winter wonderland! Have a great day!

  3. I would so go strolling with my husband of forty years. But honestly I am not a huge fan of the cold. So I would love to go strolling somewhere where it is warm. quilting dash lady at comcast dot net

  4. I really liked Vermont in the wintertime so I would say there, staying a cabin in the woods. Strolling with a man who would cherish me…..no idea who that would be.

  5. I’d love to stroll around Alaska, Norway, Iceland! If I’m going to dream, I’ll dream big! lol!! Any place in the US or Canada that get snow would work, too, as this Florida girl has never seen snow! And, I have no idea who I’d be with, as I’m single!

    • Dreams should be big, Trudy! They would all be wonderful wintery landscapes to enjoy! I hope you can someday visit a place that has snow and experience it firsthand with someone you love. Thank you so much for stopping in today!

  6. With my hubby and we would walk the local bike trail or on the local college campus which is lovely all year long.

  7. I would take a winter trip to Dollywood/Gatlinburg as they are so gorgeous during the winter time. Next would be the mountains all around the area as it is breathtaking.

  8. I don’t have that special someone so maybe with my daughters but take a sleigh ride and a small town that goes all out with lights so we can enjoy a light show on our ride. I’m sure there’s got to be one in Maine where we live.

  9. I just watched an episode of Heartland Docs where they took a sleigh ride through the snow in Nebraska, and now I’m dreaming of doing the same thing! Of course I would take my daughters, my boyfriend, and my mom with me.

  10. Your book sounds like a great read and your book cover is Beautiful! I love it! I would go to a cabin in NM and take my husband and our family there and enjoy the peacefulness and play boardgames, and one day go on a sleigh ride. Have a great day and a great week.

    • It sounds like a wonderful winter getaway, Alicia! I hope someday you can experience it. And thank you so much about the cover! Covers and Cupcakes did a great job designing it! Enjoy your day and have a fabulous rest of February!

  11. Love the idea of strolling through a winter wonderland. I would choose my brothers. My oldest brother was killed in a car wreck at age 20. My youngest brother just turned 60 in January. It would be so wonderful to spend time with both of them, just saying those “last things” we never got a chance to say back then. I think it would be so healing. This is not meant to be depressing but a time we would love with the ones we love. Thanks for listening.

    • Oh, Opal! I’m sorry you lost your brother at such a young age. It would be lovely if the three of you could go for a walk together and, as you said, share all those things you didn’t get a chance to say. Big hugs to you!

  12. Davis, Thomas, Canaan Valley area in West Virginia with my husband is where I would love to stroll in a winter wonderland. Thank you for sharing. God bless you.

  13. We have walked the winter woods in several states. As a high school and college student I did a lot of winter hikes and some white tail deer research I was doing in college in winter woods. This was in the Adirondack Mountains in the northeastern corner of New York. After getting married and having a family, we hiked the woods of several areas in New England. We were back in our corner of New York and spent many enjoyable days in the winter woods. It is a great time for finding and identifying tracks, seeing animal sign, and bird/animal watching. We took our children with us from the time they were little. I can remember one wonderful day that was still and the perfect temperature. It was dead still with the snow softly falling in big flakes. The only sound was that of the falling snow as it landed. It was an awesome experience. Even the children stood there enthralled, not making a sound. It was over 40 years ago, but I can close my eyes and still “see” and feel the day. We have walked the woods in the Rockies, but it is a “sharper” experience.
Thanks for bring back a favorite memory.

    • Oh, I loved what you shared, Patricia. That perfect day when the snow falling was the only sound. I’ve had that experience a few times and it is unforgettable. So glad you have memories of those wonderful winter woodland walks to cherish! Thank you for being here today!
