Bullet Proof Bride is Almost Here!

My book, Bullet Proof Bride, the fourth book in the Pink Pistol Sisterhood is almost here! I’m sure you’ve been enjoying the series so far and there are so many more wonderful books to come!

Here’s a little bit more about my book:

When tragedy takes away her one chance at love, will another help her find it?

Goldie Colson has lost everything, including her parents in a bank robbery. So, she does what any other woman would do in her predicament. She becomes a mail-order bride. Unfortunately, before she can tie the knot, she loses her betrothed and his father to train robbers! Now she’s stuck in Nowhere, Washington with nothing but the two mens’ meager belongings, including a pistol in her future father in-law’s satchel. Considering she shot one of the train robbers, it might come in handy if she ever ran into him again.

Rhys Miller couldn’t complain about his life. He was best friends with some of the Weavers of the famous Weaver Farm, and enjoyed working at the town’s only bank, even if it was a little dull. Then she came to town and Rhys didn’t know if he was coming or going. Goldie Colson was scared and rightly so. Strangers were asking after her at the Weaver Farm, and after hearing about what happened to her with a bunch of train robbers, a few of them might want her dead. But Rhys isn’t sure which is worse, guarding Goldie from danger or guarding his heart from her.

This was such a fun book to write, and a lot of my readers are happy the story is taking place in Nowhere, Washington, a two hour train ride from the famous Weaver Farm. Goldie gets to meet her share of Weavers, and some of the townsfolk of Nowhere to boot. But with barely a penny to her name, she can’t stay, and will have to leave the little community or starve. But after a while, the town begins to grow on her, that is until she gets a stark reminder that danger lurks, and figures it’s time to move on. But how? Here’s an excerpt:

Goldie’s insides quivered. What did the sheriff mean, he hoped he was wrong? “Excuse me, but… who do you think robbed the train?”
He shoved a couple of the wanted posters across the desk. “Do you recognize either of these men?”
A chill went up her spine as she looked at the posters. “Oh…dear me.”
“You recognize one of them?” Mr. Miller asked.
She glanced at the banker, unable to form words. All she could do was point. “H-h-him. That’s the man I… that is… the gun…”
Arlan looked at the poster. “He got shot.” Arlan gave her a single nod and it somehow made her feel better. At least he didn’t blurt that she’d murdered the man. She didn’t. The gun went off on accident, but it did save her life.
Sheriff Riley, hands on hips, stared at the wanted posters. “And the other one? Do you recognize him?”
She looked at the posters again. “It’s hard to say, they were wearing masks.”
“Then how do you know this fellow is the one that got shot?” Mr. Miller asked.
She glanced his way, and the blue of his eyes caught her own. He was a handsome man and a part of her wished she’d been his mail-order bride. “Mr. Weaver removed his mask after he, um…”
“I took it off the varmint before carrying him off the train,” Arlan said.
“I see.” Sheriff Riley pulled two more wanted posters from the small stack on his desk. “What about these two?”
Goldie studied them. “Maybe, yes.” She gave the sheriff a helpless shrug. “To be honest, I’m not sure how many there were all together. I only know of the three that were in our car.”
“Were there others?” Mr. Miller asked Arlan.
“According to the conductor and engineer, there were five, but these are the ones we’re concerned with.” He nodded at the sheriff. “Right.”
Sheriff Riley nodded. “Yes.”
“Why is that?” she asked. “Why not all of them?”
Sheriff Riley pushed the other two posters across the desk. “This one, he’s nobody, drifts from gang to gang. He’ll be long gone. But these three.” He pointed at the two previous posters, then the new one. “He’s not only the ringleader of this particular gang, but the older brother of the man you shot.”
Goldie listed to one side. Mr. Miller caught her. “Whoa, maybe you’d better sit?”
She began to fan herself. “Yes, sit. Sitting is good.”
He steered her to a nearby chair and helped her ease onto it. “Spencer, some water?”
“I have coffee.”
“That’ll do.”
The sheriff went to the pot-bellied stove and poured her a cup.
Mr. Miller took it and handed it to her. “Here, drink this. It will calm your nerves.” He turned to the sheriff. “Who are they?” He glanced at the posters then returned his attention to her.
She smiled at him, then looked at the sheriff. “Who did I shoot?”
Sheriff Riley drew in a breath. “Well, they’re known as the Coolidge gang. You shot Jonny Coolidge. His brothers are Herbert and Dale.”

“You said there were four,” Mr. Miller pointed out.
“The fourth is a cousin. Dilbert.”
Goldie’s face screwed up. “Those are horrible names for outlaws. They don’t sound menacing at all.”
“Trust me,” the sheriff said. “They are. You experienced it first-hand.” He came around the desk and stood before her. “I know you’ve been through a lot today, but if you don’t mind a few questions, this won’t take long.”
She shook her head. “Ask me anything.”
He pulled out a small writing pad and pencil from his vest pocket. “Arlan tells me the train robbers boarded the train about an hour from the Weaver farm. Is that right?”
She nodded. “I’m sure the other passengers already told you.”
“Yes, but the two that were in the other passenger car made a run for it the minute shots were fired.” He scribbled something on the pad. “Now, as best as you can, tell me what happened.”
She took a deep breath and noticed Mr. Miller had maneuvered his way behind her. For some reason, knowing he was there, made her feel safe. She was in a sheriff’s office with three tall, capable looking men. She didn’t know if Mr. Miller was, in actuality, all that handy with a gun or his fists, but he gave her comfort all the same.
Goldie told him the same thing she told the conductor and Mr. Weaver. What few passengers were in the car with her had already spoken to the sheriff and their stories matched.
“It was an accident, pure and simple,” the sheriff said. “Still, I know how horrifying it must have been for you.”
She nodded. She wanted nothing more than to soak in a hot tub and crawl into a bed. Fear made for a poor bedfellow, and she hoped she could relax enough not to go to bed tonight terrified.

  1. I haven’t started the series yet but look forward to reading it. Thanks for the chance to win a copy of your book.

  2. I have started reading the series! And love it thus far! I’m sure I will love this one since the Weavers are in it! What a treat! I forget Kit, was this book before or after Phoebe?

    • This comes after Phoebe, but Phoebe’s story takes place in 1903, and Bullet Proof Bride takes place in 1900. Phoebe mentions Goldie and Rhys as having quite the adventure while falling in love in her story.

  3. I havent started yet. A few health issues need to come first. But I have them up to book 4 preordered. I so look forward to reading this series. thanks

  4. I’ve read the first book and enjoyed it. I’m looking forward to reading others, and would love to win a Kindle copy of yours.

  5. I haven’t started reading the series yet but Its on my wish list when I have money and time. Hopefully soon.

  6. I haven’t started reading it yet. Its been a rough year for me I had just got out of PT from a shoulder replacement which I am still recovering from and then had a bad fall in the street and broke my hand so I should be having plenty of reading time now.

  7. I haven’t yet had the time to start the series. Things have been crazy with weekly and biweekly 10 hour trips to doctor appointments. No more until July and I hope I can get some reading done. I like to have all books in a series before I start it. In this case, however, that might not be all that necessary. I am really looking forward to reading this series.
