Welcome, welcome to a marvelous Monday! Hope this day sees y’all doing well.
The recipe I’m posting here is one very beloved by my grandchildren, as well as my husband (and me, too).
Simple to make. Delightful to eat.
So, here we go!
Easy, smeesy, Chocolate Truffles!
What you’ll need:
- 8 oz. organic semi-sweet chocolate bar
- 1/2 to 3/4 cup Heavy Whipping Cream
- 1 1/2 Teaspoon vanilla
How to make:
- Simmer cream — do not boil
- Break up chocolate into pieces
- Pour cream over chocolate and let it sit for a few minutes. Then, combine until smooth.
- Refrigerate until hard
- Roll into balls with your clean hands
- Roll each ball in cocoa powder or broken/crushed candy canes — the candy canes work well for Christmas.
That’s all! But, there are some substitutions and some simple tricks, also.
- Don’t use chocolate chips because they don’t work well for truffles. They have a different consistency when cooled.
- Your cream must be whipping or heavy cream. If you try using half and half, the chocolate will not roll into balls.
- If you have only cocoa powder, you can substitute it in a pinch for the organic semi-sweet chocolate bar by doing the following: substitute 1 tablespoon of cocoa powder to every ounce of chocolate; add 1 teaspoon melted butter or coconut oil for every tablespoon of cocoa powder; add 1 tablespoon sugar for each ounce of chocolate.
- Follow the rest of the recipe above.
There you go. A wonderful addition to the holidays or just for fun. Yum! Chocolate!
Let me know in the comments if you’ve ever made your own truffles and if so, how did they turn out?

I have never made truffles. I might just try this recipe. Thanks for sharing.
Hi Kathleen! When I was a Realtor — many years ago — and I had an open house, I would always make these on the day when other Realtors were coming to preview the new listing. Yum!
Sounds delicious and easy!
Hi Denise! They really are yummy and easy to make. Rolling them in crushed candy canes makes a wonderful Christmas candy
I have never made truffles. In fact, I have never had truffles until this past Valentine’s Day when my daughter-in-law gave me some. They are great!
What a wonderful daughter-in-law! Don’t you love ’em? I was so thrilled when I found a rather easy recipe so I could make them myself. They disappear rather easily you know. : )
This sounds so easy!
They really are easy. Hope you’ll try the recipe. Oh, nice to see you here, Rhonda!
Yes! I’ve made truffles for Christmas several times, & it looks like the same recipe! They are so yummy! I have also rolled them in crushed almonds or cocoa mix powder (like the cocoa you drink).
Hi Ami! Thank you for your suggestions. All those are good suggestions. One could also roll them in confect. sugar, too. Thanks for your reply.
I’ve never made truffles, but this recipe sounds good, I might give them a try. Thanks!
Hi Connie! Yes, you might give it a try. Let me know if you like it. : )
I have made them with success. 🙂 I will give this recipe a try.
Hi David! Of course you’ve made truffles. This recipe is easy. I love easy recipes. : )
I’ve never made my own truffles, though I have eaten some before!
Hi Trudy!
I bet you would like them homemade, also. They are particularly good at Christmas.
I’ve never made truffles. They are something my oldest daughter would love. This is a recipe I will have to try for her. I have made chocolates, a good chocolate fudge, pralines, mints, lollipops, hot maple syrup on snow (it forms a sort of a taffy consistency), and taffy. It has been a long time since I have done taffy. I love it and will have to make it again some time soon.
Hi Patricia! Wow! I bet you are more adept at making candy than I am. I’m still like a baby in making candy. I cook a lot and of course bake something almost everyday. But, candy has eluded me. Fudge, hard candies and caramels are pretty much what I’ve made. Thanks so much for your post.
I’ve never made truffles, but your recipe sounds easy and delicious!!
Hi Kathleen! It really is easy and tastes so good. Am hoping you’ll try it and have fun with it.
I Love truffles but I have never made them myself this recipe sounds amazing! Thank you for sharing!
Hi Sarah! I hope you have a good time making them. They are very much loved in this household. Thanks for leaving your thoughts on this here.
