Karen’s Game Day Winners

Such creative readers we have here at Petticoats & Pistols! You all came up with some exceptional wild west acrostics during our Game Day on Monday. They were so good, in fact, that I found it impossible to pick only one winner. So I picked two!

Congratulations go to

Tina Rice and Kerri!

Both of you have won a $10 Amazon gift card. YeeHaw!

Big thanks to everyone who played.
Reading through those acrostics kept a smile on my face all day.

Game Day with Karen!

I love playing games, and word games are especially fun. So for our Game Day this month, I thought we could enjoy some word play.

But first, we need a theme. I just so happen to have some inspiration.

Short-Straw Bride, the first book in my Archer Brothers series and consistent reader favorite, is on sale through March 31 for only $0.99 ($0.79 in some places).

Amazon | Barnes & Noble | Christianbook

No one steps on Archer land. Not if they value their life. But when Meredith Hayes overhears a lethal plot to burn the Archer brothers off their ranch, a twelve-year-old debt compels her to take the risk.

So now that we have our theme – Western Romance – let’s play our game!

Wild West Acrostics!

To play, select one of the three words below from the featured book title:

SHORT          STRAW          BRIDE

Create a string of words that start with each of the five letters in your word to describe what you love about reading western romance. I’ve given you some examples below. You don’t have to use all three words like I did. Just one will do it.

.

Leave your acrostic in the comments below.
My favorite will win a $10 Amazon gift card!

Have fun . . . and don’t forget to grab your copy of Short-Straw Bride!

November Game Day!

It’s game day, today! Are you ready for some fun?

With Thanksgiving coming right up next week, I thought it would entertaining to play a game that involves some holiday fun.

Not too far from our house, there is a field where wild turkeys gather. I love seeing them out there, but the closer it gets to Thanksgiving the fewer we see. Do you suppose they know what’s coming?

If they could tell us, what do you think they’d say?

or maybe…

or how about…

Just for fun, write what you think should go on this sign and post it in the comments below.

One lucky, randomly drawn winner will receive an autographed paperback copy of Blown Into Romance.

Karen’s Game Day Winners!

We had so much fun with our crazy costumes. Thanks to everyone for joining in the fun!

Our 3 winners of an e-book copy of
Full Steam Ahead are . . .

Sara Blackard
Susette Vesey
Monique

Have a fun and safe Halloween, and be sure to give out extra candy to any little cowboys or cowgirls who come to your door.

Game Day with Karen!

With Halloween right around the corner, I thought it would be fun to play a costume game.

Let’s start off with a little candy – eye candy, that is – I thought I’d share this side-by-side photo of Scott Eastwood dressed up as his dad Clint for Halloween back in 2016. This is the first Treat in our Trick or Treat game.

Now for the Trick . . .

Use the graphic below to pick your virtual Halloween costume. Post your costume result in the comments for a chance to win an e-book copy of Full Steam Ahead.

Of all my books, Full Steam Ahead is probably the most suited for Halloween. A mad-scientist, steam-engine-exploding hero and a piratical, mathematical, dagger-wielding heroine. Of course, true to my style, there is nothing remotely spooky about the story, but there is plenty of danger, adventure, and romance.

I will give away 3 e-book copies of Darius and Nicole’s story today, drawn from those who leave a comment.

And since not even my characters can get away without showing up in costume for this game day event, here they are dressed and ready for a good old-fashioned masquerade.

Be sure to enter your costume result in the comments for a chance to win!

It’s Game Day With Linda Broday!

Are you ready to have some fun? I sure hope so. I like games and used to play a lot more than I do now. Growing up, my family loved the board game Aggravation (also known as Sorry). In fact, we loved it so much my dad made the board out of a piece of plywood and varnished it. I tell you, it was pretty fancy and well used. Uno is another favorite. My husband and I used to love playing backgammon and he was an expert. I really had to work hard to beat him and it didn’t happen very often.

Playing games is so relaxing and it sure is a good way to create unbreakable bonds. So let’s get to it.

Below are two pictures. Write a caption for each. Very simple and there are no bad answers.

Two people will win a $10 gift card and one person will win the first two of my Outlaw Mail Order Brides books (The Outlaw’s Mail Order Bride and Saving the Mail Order Bride.)

Ready, Set, Go!!

Welcome to Another Episode of Summer Fun

Howdy!

Are you ready for another fun week of games and puzzles?  Well, kicking off this week, I thought I might upload a puzzle — I figure we could call it:  Name that cover.

Here’s the link:  https://www.jigsawplanet.com/?rc=play&pid=333e8f3e0a3f

So, did you put it together yet?  Okay, shall we compare times?  Now, before I tell you how long it took me to put the puzzle together, be aware that I am not puzzle-oriented.  Okay? It took me 11 minutes and 54 seconds — and that was after I called my husband, Paul (who loves puzzles) to come and help me.  I seem, also, to be alone in my lack of tolerance and working over puzzles.  Both my daughters, my grandchildren, my husband, his mother, his sister, etc. etc. — all love puzzles and put them together (really hard ones) in no time at all.

Not me.

Would love to hear your time.

So here’s the multiple choice question:  Is the cover?

** RED HAWK’S WOMAN

** THE LAST WARRIOR

** THE SPIRIT OF THE WOLF

Thanks so much for coming here today and for playing the game with me.  Know that if you leave a comment, you are automatically entered into the drawing that will take place at the end of the week.  (All Petticoats and Pistols rules for Giveaways apply.)

Thanks for playing and have a super rest of the week…lots of fun!

Game Day with Phyliss Miranda

Welcome to my Game Day…Favorite Book Titles!

I think we’ll have fun today.  Here’s the way my game works.

Using the first letter of either your name or the state you live in (minimum of 5 letters),

finish it out with the title of one of your favorite books.

You can use abbreviations, if it’s a long state name, but no USPO codes ie: TX.

You can also use another letter in the name, if it’s a hard one.

If you can’t think of a title, here’s a hint. Click on the picture of any Filly and you’ll go to their website, thus her book list.

This might give you some ideas.  Here’s mine:

  • T:  “The Troubled Texan” by Phyliss Miranda
  • E:  “The Extortionist”
  • X:  “The X-Files”
  • A:  “Ashes in the Wind” by Kathleen Woodiwiss
  • S:  “Spring Brides” by Pam Crooks

Have fun!

To one lucky winner, I’m giving away a $10 gift card to Bath and Body Works; and to another winner, an eBook copy of my latest Kasota Springs Romance,  “Out of a Texas Night”.
