Kicks off a flurry of renewals. done with the help of Wild Heart Books.
This publisher specializes in historical fiction so there is a LOT to love over there.
I’ve got six books and, I think, eight novellas coming out in the next ? six? months. Re-releases of old favorites. And none I loved more than my very first released book, Petticoat Ranch.
My gosh, when that book came in the mail, a box full of books back then, I hugged them and danced with them and told My Cowboy we were gonna need a bigger bed because I was going to sleep cuddled up to them FOREVER!!
The books never made it as sleep-over friends but otherwise it’s all true.
This month, that beloved book, out of print, is now available again on all the standard outlets.
Seriously getting those books is one of the best experiences of my life. Total Top Ten Experience
Leave a comment to get your name in a drawing for an ebook copy of Petticoat Ranch. There are paperback copies, too, but I don’t get any of those are part of my contract. So I’m going with an ebook.
Leave a comment if you are SICK of this stupid, cold weather. It’s like spring is TAUNTING ME!!!
I’m looking out the window at a snowstorm right now…the self-pity is embarrassing but I can’t stop it!
Book #1 of the Petticoats and Cowboys Series
From beloved author Mary Connealy comes a delightful Western adventure brimming with danger, laughter, and unexpected romance—a tale of a resourceful widow, a rugged cowboy, and the ready-made family that will steal his heart. Perfect for fans of Tracie Peterson and Karen Witemeyer.
Sophie Edwards has survived two years in the Texas wilderness with four daughters and her wits. When a stranger falls injured near her hidden cabin during a thunderstorm, she discovers he’s the spitting image of her late husband—because Clay McClellen is her husband’s twin brother, a man who never knew his brother existed.
Clay came to Texas seeking justice for his brother’s murder. What he finds instead is a ready-made family, a rundown ranch, and a fiercely independent woman who doesn’t need rescuing—even when danger comes calling. Sophie may have pulled him from a flooded creek, but Clay is determined to be the protector she deserves, whether she wants one or not.
As vigilantes close in and old enemies resurface, Clay and Sophie must learn to trust each other and God’s plan. But can a mountain man used to solitude embrace life with four talkative daughters? And can Sophie open her guarded heart to love again—especially when the man looks exactly like the husband who broke it?
A heartwarming tale of second chances, faith, and finding love in the untamed West.

How wonderful to have your book back in print! Congratulations.
Yes, so tired of the weather’s fickle nature. Currently have a really bad case of bronchitis, and the weather isn’t helping with healing. (under the care of my Dr)
Get well soon, Denise.
I heard the weather is SPRING HAS SPRING
Oops, nope, winter
False Spring
Oops sneak attack by winter again
False Spring
Sneering return of winter
…summer and mosquitos
Sounds about right about the weather.
Thanks.
I hope you feel better, bronchitis isn’t fun and can last for awhile. I hope you get warmer weather soon.
I, too, am tired of the yoyo weather. I hope it gets to 75 and stays. I read this book when it first came out and loved it! (Many years ago). I am glad to see it back!
Hi Anne. I’ve got a birthday this month and it is always ruined by weather.
How many cold, rainy birthdays did I have?
But it’s SPRING!!! Why is there sleet???
California weather is Hot! I love the series about Sophie and her daughters, waiting for a book about the 4th daughter. Doctor in petticoats was my very first read of Mary’s books it got me hooked. I have 12 series of her books in paperback. I reread them all! But I love the all the books with Sophie and her family the very best! Thank you Mary your books brought me back to reading!
Deb I have a novella for the fourth daughter.
Laura meets and starts fighting with one of the REEVES boys from Calico Canyon.
Ike Reeves returns home, now a doctor to find his old nemesis Laura McClellen delivering his Ma Grace’s umpteenth baby.
Ike is now a doctor.
Laurie is working for her sister, a doctor. She knows almost literally nothing and he saves the day except…hey, that’s a little too personal. I’m not delivering my ma’s baby. NO.
Very fun book.
It’s called Calico and Cowboys and it contains about eight novellas.

I’ll have to get that one!i I always thought Laura got left out and those Reeves’ boys wow what a a hand full!
Thank you for these books! I spent a summer rereading these series and plotting out who “crossed over” to other books and series. You are my favorite author.
Michigan weather is like a teenage girl. You never know what you are going to encounter every day! 68 and sunny? Thunderstorms with hail? 2 inches of snow? We had that 2 weeks ago… all in a 5 day span!
Julie! Thank you! Have you read Calico and Cowboys, it’s most of the Reeves boys finding love…some of them with Belle Tanner’s daughters. Belle is scary. The Reeves boys meet their match and straighten up…or die

Good morning. Welcome today. Oh but this sounds wonderful. I love westerns where there is not only a bumpy trail back to love, but laughter. This all makes it more realistic to me. Oh my we have been getting snow that sticks for the last week. Sigh I am so tired of cold, dreary winter. But I know that spring is coming. I have seen so many robins, and some of my flowers are showing. My crocus, daffodils,, and tulips all coming up. I can’t wait to get out and play in the dirt.
We cancelled church on Sunday due to the weather. Monday was awful…Now we have 60 degrees
sigh
Good morning! I actually prefer the colder weather. I live in South Texas where it’s mostly hot and humid so a respite from that is always welcomed to me! Still I am looking forward to Spring weather, the gardening and playing outside with the kiddos before summer heat descends upon us. 🙂
One of the things my chareacter Tex, in the Rocky Mountain Marshals says is, “I’m going home to Texas and I promise I will never complain about a stiff wind when it’s 50 degrees outside, again.
Congratulations and sounds like a great read!
Thanks Teresa
Good morning. Hope you are well. I’m so over winter and the snow already. You can always count on Vermont to prolong winter. To hang onto it for ever. Lol. The other day it was in the 70s and the next in the teens. Stay well and thank you for sharing your time with us all. Sincerely
Charlene Whitehouse
Hi Charlene. I am such a huge fan of heating and air conditioning. I think I’d’ve made a wimpy pioneer
I’m so excited about this reprint. I’m a recent fan. But I’ve read 14 of your books in half a year. And for me that’s pretty good. Your books are what made me realize I loved reading. Hahaha!! My mom got me into your books and I can’t seem to read anyone else! Thankfully they have had some great series at the library, because I’ve been reading your books nonstop.
Aw, Joy. Thank you so much! What a great comment. And God bless your mom and the library. I appreciate it all!!! Tell your mom thank you
Yes! I am ready for spring:) I live in Tennessee and we have something we call “little winters”. We just finished “Redbud Winter” this week, on Sunday it was 72 degrees and 22 degrees when we woke up on Monday with snow flurries. We still have Dogwood, Locust, Blackberry and Cotton Britches winters to go:) We do have a saying here “If you don’t like the weather just stick around 10 minutes and it is likely to change”.
Your book Petticoat Ranch sounds great!!
Patti, a favorite story my father used to tell was, so friend of his lived in California (I’m in Nebraska, right?)
His friend said in california you can sit outside in the heat, then drive a couple of hours and “make a snowman.
My father said, “Big deal. You can do that in Nebraska without moving an inch.
I tell people that this winter is the one that won’t quit. I’m tired of snow and cold weather. I’m glad I don’t live in the UP (Michigan), they had a blizzard this last weekend. I was told people were ordered to stay off the roads even road trucks. Someone I know told me her friends couldn’t open their doors because of the amount of snow.
Oh, yikes, Karijean. We had a nasty little snowstorm this weekend but snow high enough to block the doors?
I’m sitting here so sad for them!!!!!!!!!
Gosh, Mary, I remember when you sold PETTICOAT RANCH and when I got my copy. Like me, you’d tried for years, kept writing and writing until you sold and published, and then your career literally exploded.
How sweet it is! Congratulations!! Well-deserved!
It’s unbelievable, isn’t it Pam? It’s been a long time we’ve been at this. You got started long ahead of me.
Not much of a winter in Southeastern Nebraska. Will be close to 90 tomorrow and about 95 on Saturday before the temps will go back down for a few days. Wild fires are raging in the western part of the state
Hey, Kim. Did you hear that Nebraska’s on fire? One fire they’re calling the Morrill Fire is bigger than the state of Rhode Island!!!!! Far from me but it’s devastating. Ranch land. the price of beef is gonna go up.
Yep I am really sick of the cold weather, snow and ice. Around here lately it can be in the 70’s one day and then drop to the 20’s over night and be cold for few days and then back to spring like weather. Right now its cold and they say because the dog woods are blooming another one of KY’s winters. I am so ready for spring. Your book sounds fantastic but your books always are.
All I know, Quilt Lady is, however I dress, it’s gonna be WRONG!!!
I would welcome some cool weather since i live in Arizona where it was 100 degrees yesterday!!!!
yike, but it’s a DRY HEAT right???
Ditto what Joye said. Arizona has had a hot streak but I will take it over cold weather. Your book sounds like one I would enjoy.
I have a friend in Scottsdale and one in Flagstaff. Those two places get the most DIFFERENT weather from each other.
I currently live in Florida and am tired of mu husband complaining that the cold makes his back ache. He is being a baby as I hate Florida as the summer high heat makes my lymphedema act up and I do not complain.
Debby, complaining about the weather is one of life’s most special skills and greatest pleasure. C’mon, complain!
I’m at least glad my lilac’s and apple blossoms have a lovely smell. I am ready for warmer temperatures, however.
Ah, lilacs. Yes, it’s almost time here! We have apple trees, too. You’re lifting my spirits.
There’s paperback copies of this whole series in my church library!! I’ve read and loved them all!!
Trudy, I’m glad they’re there. This is such a precious series to me.
I am so excited for you having these back in print! You are such a fun author and I’m looking forward to reading some of these that I have missed! Congratulations I don’t blame you for wanting to sleep with them lol
I can’t wait to read these. In Arkansas where I live it is supposed to be almost 90 by Friday. Monday night it was in the 29 and the high was 40.
I’ve spent the past two years rereading and first-time reading ALL of Mary Connealy’s books! I’m obsessed. I’m almost finished with Ambush of the Heart. It reminds me of the earlier books with a lot of characters. I’m a bibliophile, which means I have to hold a real paper book in my hands. Being an editor, I must get away from the computer, and I purchase all of my books. I’m sad that I’ve finally caught up with Mary’s current books. That means I have to wait several more months for the next book in the series.
Thank you, Mary, for keeping your western theme going all these years. 🙂
Hi Jeanne! I KNOW YOU!!! Thank you so much for commenting. I like holding a paper book, too. I’ve done a few audio books and I have a loaded Kindle, it’s fine but nothing beats paper.
Would love to read this again
Thanks for sharing about your books. I love your writing and I’m looking forward to rereading or reading some of the ones I have missed. Yes I’m sick of cold weather. I live in southern Illinois and the last hard freeze destroyed the peach crop here .
I am so done with winter and cannot wait for the warm weather to get here. I would love to have this book to read. It would be the icing on a spring cake.
Hi, your book sounds like a very good read!! Well, yes, I am ready for warm weather and we have been getting just that, it has even gotten hot here in west Texas. The high on Monday was 49 degrees and the low was 34, and after that the days have been very warm , in the mornings it has been a little cold but it has been warming up very nicely, I just hope that the cold weather is done with, but you never know about the weather here in west Texas, we just have to take it one day at a time. Have a great day. I am not entering this giveaway as I am not tech savvy and dont read ebooks at all, but Thank you.
weather’s okay
Yes, I am definitely looking forward to Spring colors.
Yes. I am absolutely ready for Spring. I am tired of being cold. Thank you for the opportunity. God bless you.
Here in Finland spring is very early. Snow is mostly gone.
It is spring here!
Today in upstate South Carolina it’s cold, but we’re supposed to warm up to 70° this weekend! Crazy weather just makes people feel bad and get sick!
Thanks for listening,
Julie
We’ve had up and down weather all winter here in the Ozarks; I’m loving the warmer winter! Your books looks wonderful, of course, Mary!
WOW that’s a lot of book action coming!
I am totally sick of the weather. But as my brother says, it’s Ohio and our weather is always wishy washy. lol
I don’t mind the cold weather that much, but I do wish it would make up its mind what it was going to do. We have broken many weather records the past few months for both coldest and hottest temperatures. We had the storm that blew in a few days ago and did get some snow but not as much as predicted. The night temperatures were in the teens. The day prior it was in the 70’s with night temperatures in the 40’s. It is predicted that we might break the record again on Sunday with a high 3 or 4 degrees near 80. I would like to see a gradual warm up so we can all enjoy the change and adjust. Our poor plants, roses, clematis, and peonies, just might decide to give up after being frozen back 3 times. The Spring hardy plants are happy.
I am happy you are able to reissue your books. It will allow a new generation to read and enjoy them.
Oh, my goodness gracious, I am so very happy for you!!! What a delightful thing to be re-publishing your first (writing) love, your first time to see your name in print, to see the fruits of your first imagined world come to life again. I totally related to your “hugged them and danced with them”. CONGRATULATIONS!! Your Cowboy must be so proud!!!
I’m definitely sick of the snow and the cold. Oh how I hate winter weather. I’m a warmer kind of gal. Today wasn’t to bad here in Ct. I hope that spring has finally sprung around here I can’t for the 60s so I can enjoy the weather and be able to walk without me feel like I’m get frost bite from the cold.
?? We finally have no ????. The ??has been peeking out !! I’m ready Soring come on over ???
Haha. The pictures do not show on my comment. Guess you’ll have to fill in the question marks.
Answers; clapping hands , snowflake, sun and tulips
