It’s Yee-Haw Day!

Welcome to Yee-Haw Day, the once-a-month day we’ve reserved to share our news with you – all sorts of fun news!

So check out the post below to get the details on the kinds of things that make us go Yee-Haw!!

Jo-Ann Roberts

As promised, here is a snapshot of the quilt square I submitted to Colonial Williamsburg’s 250th Celebration of American Independence. As the granddaughter of immigrants on both sides of my family, I’m indebted to the sacrifices and hard work my grandparents endured to make life better for their descendants in the United States

I went to a Halloween party on Friday and this was my costume.

I was going for rock star. I didn’t win but it was lots of fun.

I traveled to Tulsa this past weekend to participate in the Will Rogers Medallion Award presentation. I was thrilled and honored to receive two medallions for the category of Western Romance.

Cloaked in Beauty won the bronze medallion, and If the Boot Fits brought home the gold!

My friend Jill Dewhurst (who has been a visitor here) also brought home a gold medallion for Western Inspirational Fiction. And while we were there, Lacy Williams (another regular guest here at P&P) messaged me to let me know she was there, too, as a guest. So I made sure we grabbed a photo of the three of us.

I only wish our own Shanna Hatfield had been able to attend. Her book Luna won the silver medallion for best Western Romance. We had a filly sweep of that category!

As Karen just mentioned, I wish I could have been in Tulsa for the weekend for the Will Rogers Medallion Award presentation. I was so pleased and honored to receive a silver medallion for the category of Western Romance for Luna. Huge congrats to Karen! She was so sweet to text me and let me know I’d won the silver. What a thrill to be a finalist with her. I hope to be there next year and hang out with Karen and Lacy!

Luna was also a finalist in the Women Writing the West WILLA Literary Award.

Having a book recognized among so many talented authors and so many wonderful books fills my heart so full.

It was a great weekend in the little town of Madison, Indiana–the inspiration for my little river town of River’s Edge, where 14 of my sweet, small-town romances happen. The library there sponsored a National Authors Day event and I was one of 14 authors who signed books and met readers. It was a ton of fun! Loved meeting new readers and sharing my small town romance!

  1. Congratulations and YeeHaw!

Jo-Ann, love the quilt square–so meaningful.

Love the costume, Linda. You’re a winner to us.

    Karen, congratulations on two medallions!

    Shanna, congratulations on your medallion!

  2. Congratulations on the wins, Karen and Shanna! The quilt block is wonderful, Jo-Ann! Congratulations, Nan, on being one of the 14 chosen authors! BUT…I have to say, my very favorite was seeing Linda with long, purple hair! Very becoming fashion statement! LOL!
(Karen, I hope to see you at the Blue Ridge Mountains Christian Writers Conference 2026! Perhaps Shanna too?)

  3. I love hearing what you all have been up to , A huge congratulations on winning the Awards!! You look pretty cute as a Rockstar Linda! Congratulations to you all and how fun!! The quilt is Beautiful and how awesome that you got to meet readers on such a Special day!! May you all have a Great week.

  4. Jo-Ann. – What a perfect square for the quilt. Maya Angelou’s quote is exactly the quote to inspire it. Did you make a complete quilt with this fabric? If so what size and for where?
Linda. – that is the perfect rock star outfit. I double many of us could fit into skinny slacks as well as you do.
Karen W. – Congratulations on your medals. Well deserved. We have such good authors as regular Fillies and visitors.
Shanna. – Congratulations for Luna’s award. I do hope you can make it next year. Such events are so enjoyable.
Nan. – What a nice experience that must have been. Getting to meet readers and visit with other authors on a small scale must be a bit more enjoyable than the big conferences. Too bad you were closer.

    • It was lovely to meet readers, Patricia, I wish you could’ve been there, too! One funny thing…the hotel desk clerk bought some books when she heard why I was in town and she told another guest that I was there. The guest asked if the clerk would call her down when I got back from dinner Saturday night, so she did. The woman was so jacked about meeting “a real author” and ended up buying a dozen different River’s Edge titles out of the back of my car at 10 pm! It was the craziest way I’d ever signed books!
