Today is National Daughters Day, and I’m inviting everyone to celebrate with me by either posting a picture of you and your daughter(s) or telling me about her/them. No daughter? Then share something about you and your mother because you’re a daughter and need to be celebrated, too! Or even someone you think of as a daughter.
According to the National Day Calendar website, National Daughter’s Day reminds us of the young women and girls in our lives. Parade says: “National Daughters Day is a great way to celebrate the joy a girl brings to her family, as well as affirm and encourage her—reminding your little girl (even if she’s an adult now) that she is strong, capable, intelligent and so very loved.” The Courier Journal reports the United States adopted the day in recent years to honor the mother-daughter bond.

All great reasons to take a moment today and tell your daughter (or mother) what they mean to you.
Here are some pictures of my beautiful daughter and me having a blast on a Mexican cruise we took a couple of years ago. She is the light of my life and the song in my heart.

Cathy McDavid has been penning Westerns for Harlequin since 2005. With over 55 titles in print and 1.6 million-plus books sold, Cathy is also a member of the prestigious Romance Writers of America’s Honor Roll. This “almost” Arizona native and mother of grown twins is married to her own real-life sweetheart. After leaving the corporate world seven years ago, she now spends her days penning stories about good looking cowboys riding the range, busting broncs, and sweeping gals off their feet — oops, no. Make that winning the hearts of feisty, independent women who give the cowboys a run for their money. It a tough job, but she’s willing to make the sacrifice.

I have two beautiful daughters. Tammy is 55 and Sharon is 53. I love them with all of my heart. I only get to see them once a year, because of the distance and the cost.
I feel you, Bonnie. I only get to see my daughter a couple times a year because of distance. I would love to change that but can’t figure out how. Yet 🙂
My daughter, Amber, is the best. We schedule a time to get together once a week because we are so both busy, if we didn’t, too much time would slip by without seeing each other.
Oh, how lovely. And Amber is such a pretty name 🙂
I have one daughter and yes she brings all the above to our family. She now has her own family. We became grandparents for the first time three months ago to a beautiful granddaughter.
Congrats on the new grandbaby. I also because a first-time grandmother this year back in March. What a thrill!
We have one beautiful daughter.
How wonderful for you. And I’m sure she’s as beautiful as her mom 🙂
I have three amazing daughters. One works for the EPA. So I worry about her. Another just had surgery to implant hardware for a new leg. So I worry about her. My third daughter has two sons in a school system that sucks. So I worry about them
We never stop worrying about them, right? I understand how you feel. My daughter travels a lot for work and I still make her let me know she arrived at her destination and then home safely.
I don’t have a daughter, I have a son. My mom and I were as close as we could be, but lived 300 miles apart after I married. We took turns calling each other and we visited as often as we could. When we would visit, she went all out cooking some great country food for us. I miss her very much, she passed away in 2003.
Oh, thank you for sharing such lovely memories of you and your mom. Missing your mom is something that never goes away.
Sorry I only had one son, never had a daughter.
But you are a daughter, so we are celebrating you!
I don’t have any daughters, just three sons. I do have two very lovely daughters-in-law.
How nice, Denise. Let’s celebrate them 🙂
I have 3 beautiful daughters and 2 amazing daughters-in-law.
You are blessed, Elaine. How wonderful!
I have never had biological children, but have raised my niece since she was 1 yrs old, she’s 14 already!, to me she is my daughter and has brought so much joy to my life. Right now I am also taking care of two other nieces, a 3 yr old and a 8 yr old.
Thank you for sharing the story of your precious family, Laura. Daughters of the heart are just as special as those born to us.
I have three daughters and one granddaughter. Fortunately our oldest daughter and her family settled five hours away by road rather than five or six hours by plane that she was before her husband retired from the Navy. The other two are only one and a half hours away by road making it much easier to get together. We are all very close and the best thing about the internet is our group chats that can happen any time. Sometimes it’s just a picture of a sunset or one of our many cats. Other times we get into lengthy discussions about local or national happenings. It isn’t as good as being in the same room but it is a great way to communicate. The three of them take “sister retreats” each summer and this year they took me with them on a three day road trip to Lake Osoyoos, British Columbia. Lots of fun seeing places we have heard about and visiting museums as well as swimming in a lake instead of a pool.
Oh, Alice. What fun to go along on the sister retreat. And I hear British Columbia is spectacular!
Good morning, I have 1 daughter and 1 son. God has Blessed me with a daughter who is Beautiful Inside and Out! She is 57 , she has 1 daughter and 1 son and she has been married 21 years . We are very fortunate that they live in the same town as we do so we celebrate everything together. We are all very close. I am Very Proud of my daughter, and I Thank God for placing her in my arms and trusting me with her. Have a Great day
Hi Alicia. Thank you for telling me about your beautiful daughter. I feel the same way about mine.
I have two beautiful daughters. Katy is 19 and Grace is 13. They enjoy hanging out together, going to movies and to the mall. We just went to the movies together last Saturday to see Noah Live and had a great time.
Its so great that your two daughters are close. What a blessing! And that you three spent time together.
I have 3 daughters. The oldest lives a 2 hour drive, the youngest lives 12 miles and the middle one lives 2 miles away. They’re all very independent. I have 12 grandchildren and only 3 of them are grandsons. I also have 7 great grandchildren and 4 are girls. So my family is very girl heavy.
Oh, wow, Karijean. What an incredible family you have. And I’m jealous they are so close.
I didn’t get a daughter, but Son gifted me with a darling daughter-in-law whom I treasure.
That’s truly wonderful, Nan.
God blessed me with a very beautiful and loving daughter. I always wanted to be able to play the piano and to sing, I can do neither but He blessed me with a daughter who can do both. She is very talented and can do pretty much anything she sets her mind to do. God also blessed me with a wonderful son, three granddaughters, three grandsons and now 1 great grandson and 1 great granddaughter. So blessed and I am thankful He has loaned them to us for however long He sees fit. I just pray that I have instilled in them a love for Him.
Thank you for telling us about your incredible family and amazing love. All the best to you, Sarah.
We are so lucky to have the daughters, granddaughters, granddaughters-in-law, and great granddaughters that we have. Sent them all messages,
