I’ve been looking forward to this day for months!
It’s release day for Love on Target book 2 in our new Pink Pistol Sisterhood series of sweet romances!
If you are someone who likes to “read before you buy,” you can check out the entire first chapter of the book on my blog here.
Rena, my heroine, is someone I’d call a survivor. She’s endured pain and come out on the other side of it. But she’s ready for a fresh start, and that is where her story begins. While she outwardly scoffs at the very notion of romance, she secretly longs to be loved.
The hero, Josh, has had his own share of heartbreak, including the death of his wife. But he has his little girl, Gabi, who is the light of his heart. When the two of them meet Rena, nothing will ever be the same.
Will romance hit its mark when true love is the target?
Desperate for a fresh start, Rena Burke journeys from Texas to Oregon with only her father’s pistol and a plodding old mule for company. She takes a job working with explosives at a mine, spends her free time emulating her hero Annie Oakley, and secretly longs to be loved.
Saddlemaker Josh Gatlin has one purpose in life and that is his daughter. Gabi is his joy and the sunshine in his days. Then he meets a trouser-wearing woman living life on her own terms. Rena is nothing like his perception of what he wants in a wife and mother for his child, but she might just prove to be everything he needs.
When tragedy strikes, will the two of them be able to release past wounds and embrace the possibilities tomorrow may bring? Find out in this sweet historical romance full of hope, humor, and love.

If you could create your own magazine, like we did with our Pink Pistol Magazine,
what would you title it and what content would it include?
After spending her formative years on a farm in Eastern Oregon, hopeless romantic Shanna Hatfield turns her rural experiences into sweet historical and contemporary romances filled with sarcasm, humor, and hunky western heroes.
When this USA Today bestselling author isn’t writing or covertly hiding decadent chocolate from the other occupants of her home, Shanna hangs out with her beloved husband, Captain Cavedweller.
If I could create my own magazine it might be named the (last name, depending on which family members were involved) Chronicles. It would include a “gossip” section (what’s up), a cooking/recipe section, gardening or home repair advice, a joke of the month /week, & a comic that was shared by a member of the family (er, editors)!
That sounds like fun, but a lot of work, too!
Oh, I think your magazine would be such fun. It is a lot of work, but it’s sure neat to flip through those pages when it is all finished! Thanks for stopping in today!
I would have a magazine centered around animal, stories of companionships animals give us. Funny stories of crazy, fun adventures.
I would title it. The Journey.
I started Love On Target, and as always, you hooked me in the 1st few paragraphed. Rena and Scout already have my heart. Congrats on another amazing book, Shanna.
What a fun idea for a magazine, Tonya! Love that one! And thank you. I hope you enjoy Rena’s journey to love! <3
So excited for your release, Shanna! I had so much fun working with you to hand the pink pistol off between our two characters. So fun!
It was so fun to figure it all out with you, Karen. Thanks for making passing the pistol so easy and fun! I loved working with you on this project!
not sure about a name – maybe Grammy’s recipes – as we are a family that cooks from scratch without a written recipe!!
Oh, that would be a great magazine, Teresa. My mom rarely wrote down a recipe and we are all wishing she had!
My magazine would be centered around gardening and recipes made from fresh vegetables from my garden. I love raising plants from seed, so maybe some info on that too. I’m not sure about a title, maybe something like Fun and Rewards of Gardening.
Hi Connie! That’s so neat you grow plants from seed – I think that would be a great magazine with tips on growing as well as recipes. Love that idea!
My magazine would be called SMILE
I have traveled all over and the one sign that I have seen that let’s me know I am welcomed there is a smile.
It would feature peoples all over the world that are smiling.
I LOVE that idea! There is nothing in the world like a welcoming smile!
I would make a family update magazine of what is going on on the Robicheaux and Dapprich side of the families. You will enjoy this book!
That would be so fun! Thank you for reading Rena and Josh’s story! <3
My magazine would be called Double Trouble since it would be featuring all things twins.
How fun! What a neat idea!
“Life in the Country” would feature articles about gardening, cooking, kids activities, interesting things to see and do in small towns, do it yourself projects for the home, yard and garden and diaries from families who live on farms big and small. A magazine like that would take a LOT of work but it would be fun to read.
It would be a lot of work, but it would be a great magazine! I’d subscribe!
It would be book and writing related.
Happy Book Release!
Thank you! And that would be a great industry magazine to share!
Shanna, what a fun question. If I HAD a “personal magazine” it would be centered around animal rescue and protections for them. I wish there had been more opportunities for women when I was younger–I would have opened an animal rescue “back in the day”…maybe been a secretary and office manager for my “day job” so I could finance my rescue.
I’m so thrilled to NOW be able to read your story, LOVE ON TARGET! It looks wonderful. What a happy, happy day!
What a great thing to center your magazine around. Animal rescue is so, so important.
And thank you! I hope you enjoy Rena and Josh’s story!
I would call it the Cat’s Bag. Thank you so much for sharing. Happy book birthday. God bless you.
So fun, Debbie! Thank you so much! Have a beautiful day full of joy!
It would be called Fun Learning. It would be practical ideas of fun activities for children of all ages, especially for homeschoolers. It could also be used in Sunday schools, troop leaders, or clubs.
That’s a great idea – one that I would think would be quite popular!
I would title it “Traveling Through History.” It would include articles on trips both long and short to visit historic structures and places. It could be a day trip to a local site, a road trip across the country, or a months long trip to other countries.
What a grand idea! Love that, especially since we love visiting historical places when we travel.
Congrats Shanna! I have read both books thus far(exclude me)! Loved them! Finished yours last night! A very cute and sweet story! Loved Rena’s courage. And especially loved the artist in her! I can’t think of any name for a magazine. Just wanted to say howdy!
You are so sweet, Tracy! Thank you for popping in and for reading both books. Yay! So glad you enjoyed them! Thank you!
