Cowboys & Mistletoe – Day 2 – Winnie Griggs

Technically His Christmas Matchmaker is not a new book. It was originally published in 2015 under the title The Holiday Courtship. But recently the rights reverted to me and I decided to reissue it with a spiffy new cover and a new title. Because I dearly love this story and wanted to make sure I did it justice when I sent it back out into the world.

This book came about when I decided Janell Whitman, the schoolteacher who’d showed up briefly in several of my Turnabout books, needed a story of her own.  Janell was stubborn though and it took me  a while to suss out her secrets, to discover who she was behind her reserved, proper façade and to learn her history.  Once I had a better handle on who she was and what truths she had to learn, I was ready to find her a hero.

And that’s where Hank Chandler, the owner of the local sawmill, came in. Hank had his heart broke once and has decided once is enough. So now he’s quite comfortable in his bachelor life and very set in his ways. So I had to come up with a way to shake things up and throw him and Janell together. Enter an orphaned niece and nephew who Hank can’t turn his back on but knows he can’t handle on his own. But it wasn’t until I stumbled on an article about schools for the deaf and the use of sign language in that period during my research that it suddenly all came together.

His Christmas Matchmaker releases on December 1st. You can order it HERE.

What Christmas carol is a favorite of parents? Silent Night. I usually waited until Christmas Eve to wrap presents and was up until the wee hours of the morning. It was hard to wait until the kids finally settled down so I had my silent night and could get started.
