It’s Yee-Haw Day!

Welcome to Yee-Haw Day, the once-a-month day we’ve reserved to share our news with you – all sorts of fun news!

So check out the post below to get the details on the kinds of things that make us go Yee-Haw!!

Karen Witemeyer

I was on the cover of a magazine! Yee-haw!

What a surprise! My publisher approached me in early May about doing an interview for Family Fiction Magazine, a digital publication that caters to Christian fiction readers. I jumped at the opportunity. But I had no idea that I was going to be on the cover. How exciting!

Nothing better than precious family time.  Yee-Haw!

Sharing a few pics from our trip to Honey Creek Resort, on Lake Rathbun in Iowa.

Having an afternoon cocktail
Cousins playing together.
Inflatable obstacle course on the lake.
Picnic lunch in Melrose, IA, before heading home.

Ruth Logan Herne (Ruthy!!!)

Well, it’s planting time here on the farm… not like those big fancy plantin’ rigs you see in the Midwest… I grow thousands of pumpkin plants in little trays in the side yard and when there are a few thousand ready, Dave plants ’em… and so it goes from May through the 4th of July. I get up nice and early to write because for these five months everything is a work in progress! But then we have the crazy fun days of autumn with hundreds of customers and kids and crisp nights and shorter days…. and cookies and breads and cakes. But it all starts right here with these baby plants and great folks stopping in to weed a half-dozen rows here and there!

Ruthy’s got a new book just released, some of you have seen the cover here, and I love how folks are lovin’ on this great cowboy story! “Healing the Cowboy’s Heart”: Think Romeo and Juliet … or Hatfields and McCoys…. and then throw a smart-as-a-whip horse vet who knows her stuff and a man who loves horses and an old grudge, refueled…. a great read, my friends! In Walmarts and drugstores nationwide, wherever Harlequin books are sold!

I think summer is for taking time and doing something fun which I hope you are. Last week a friend and I went out to where the old town of Tascosa once stood. It was only one of three towns in the Texas Panhandle in the 1870s. Boot Hill speaks for itself and has 28 graves–at least that are marked. This tree stands at the site of where Frenchy McCormick once lived with Micky, the love of her life. After the town died, everyone left but her and she stayed into her 80s to tend his grave. True love. Watch for my blog about this wild and wooly town.

The third book in my Wishiing, Texas Series, To Tame A Texas Cowboy is with the Proofing Department at Tule Publishing! I don’t have a release date yet, but I’ll let you know as soon as I do. I’m so excited to share Cooper and Cheyenne’s story with readers. This is a story close to my heart because it was inspired by a friend’s dear service dog, Penny Lane, who passed away last year.

Here’s a excerpt from Chapter One.

“You really blew it, turning me down. I could’ve rocked your world and made you see fireworks.”

As Cooper Abbott stared at Shannon, an attractive brunette, her face now contorted with irritation, all he thought was if she’d show him fireworks it was a good thing he’d politely told her no thanks. With trying to see the SeizureReader, Olivia’s dream, become a reality and taking over a vet practice, he had enough on the line without fireworks.

Not that he’d want those in a relationship anyway. Fireworks were wild, unpredictable, and dangerous as hell if a body didn’t handle them right. Come on. Explosives. Who needed that? Certainly not a smart man.

As he watched the woman storm off, the bling on the back pockets of her skinny jeans sparkling under Fitzwilly’s florescent lights, his lack of desire and disappointment surprised him. After not having sex in almost two years, he should be raring to go when a woman showed interest. Maybe it wasn’t him as much as the women he’d attracted lately. For some unfathomable reason, he drew the neurotic types the way cows drew flies.

WooHoo! A brand new month and brand new releases to boot! In fact, I’ve two the last couple of weeks! Polly and the Shipbuilder and Watching the Wrangler. These two novellas are chock full of fun and one of them has an angel with a flair for fashion. Can you guess which one?

A man in love with a woman betrothed to another. Oh dear.

Cyrus Van Cleet was smitten the moment he laid eyes on the beautiful woman in the public square. Problem is, he hasn’t a clue who she is. How will he ever find her again? With any luck, he’ll spy her at the famous Peabody Ball.

Polly Chambers caught a young man looking at her and hasn’t forgotten how his look made her feel. And from a stranger no less! But she couldn’t deny how special he made her feel. Too bad she’d never see him again … or would she?

A Wrangler. A Beauty. And one fussy angel …

Callan Jones came to work for the Whites with no expectations, a little money in his pocket and a good work ethic. It was all he needed. After losing his family back in Texas, this was his chance to make a fresh start. Then he showed up. Some dandy claiming to be his guardian angel!

Arabella Simpson’s family moved from place to place as they meandered west. Now they were in Creede and it was no different than other places they’d stayed and high-tailed it out of. But, she had to admit, the scenery was beautiful and in more ways than one. If Arabella didn’t stop watching the wrangler at the neighboring ranch, they might have to vamoose for a reason other than her father’s gambling habit.

Can two people determined not to fall in love find it? Maybe with a little help from a certain guardian angel they can …

A couple of weeks ago my three sisters and I took our first ever sisters-only getaway.  The location we chose was Disney World in Orlando and we had a blast! Our enjoyment was as much over being together as from our location.  Here are a few picture we took while there
