Calendar Confusion! A Not Unusual Twist!

Guess who forgot that she was on three times in May…

Yes.ย  ๐Ÿ™‚

You guessed it!

Sorry, guys, there’s something about holiday weeks and a rotating schedule that gets me…. Does that happen to you, too? And sometimes I forget to put things in Google Calendar (although that wasn’t the problem this time, I just had it in my head that it was next week…)

Please tell me you do that.

Please tell me that I’m not alone in my absolutely and totally expected confusion.

I’d worry that it’s an aging thing, except that I’m thirty-seven…. (that is a bold-faced LIE!!!!)

Okay, well, I’ve been doing this for as long as I can remember, so my family just deals with it… and it’s part of the reason I never, ever, ever leave a book until last minute, because what if I mess that up? When it comes to books, better four weeks early than one week late.

So, since I’m covered in mud (literally) right now, let’s keep it simple, my darlings….

Do you mess things up?

Do you ever post things incorrectly or just plain forget to look at the calendar?

Leave a comment below and I’ll tuck you in for another copy of my newest Love Inspired Western “Healing the Cowboy’s Heart”…

I’ll pick an extra winner for a copy of my first Guideposts mystery “A Light in the Darkness”….

Holy Moly, it’s the least I can do for messing up my calendar, ladies!

And we had a winner from last week’s Game Day….

Charlene Whitehouse, you’re last week’s winner of “Healing the Cowboy’s Heart”!

E-mail me at and I’ll put your address on my mailing list!

And now…. I’m going to eat some humble pie!

  1. Do not despair! I think we all do it, whether we own up to it or not. I have more lists than I can count, calendar and phone reminders, post its, paper calendar and still I will forget things. Sometimes I just don’t even see it on the list (can I blame that on old age?) and when I forget something it usually goes completely out of my head, like it was never even there. Oh well, surprise is always good, right? Have a wonderful day :-).

    • Hahahahaha! Sally, thank you! I laugh because I have lists on phones, lists on paper, and I’m still prone to either forgetting the phone…

      or the paper! ๐Ÿ™‚

I’m so glad you’re understanding, sweet thing!

  2. This is a constant for me. I have fibromyalgia and one of the side effects is brain fog. It’s not only frustrating but embarrassing to me. I can’t remember anything and have to write everything down. I rarely go out in public anymore, especially alone. At least you laugh at yourself, while I cry!

    • Oh, Linda, I think I was born laughing at myself. I have a Pollyanna-type personality and laughter comes easily…. so that way I ANNOY people who actually don’t find my antics all that amusing! ๐Ÿ™‚

      But here’s my theory:

      (Linda, I have a lot of theories, don’t I????)

      No one died.

No one died, everyone makes mistakes, and the sun will rise again in the East unless God changes His mind about it so my little error isn’t a big deal…

And I’m still covered in dirt, LOL!

Must go back to digging before the next rainstorm, I’ll check in when I come dragging back in!!!

  3. Yes, yes, and yes! It is so reassuring to know that someone else who is thirty-sevenโ€ฆ. (that is a bold-faced LIE!!!!) has trouble keeping my ducks or my chicks all in a row! I can only think that it’s all of your creative juices causing your problem. Haven’t figured the cause of mine out!
Blessings and I would love either one of these books!

    • I love you so much.

You know, our lives are busy in multiple directions these days. I really think that’s a big part of this, that we don’t have square lives anymore…. we’re frozen fractals with tiny buds and spikes and pokes going off each of the six major components…. Not two or three components anymore.

But that’s my lame excuse for not checking a perfectly good calendar! ๐Ÿ™‚

  4. Yes, I think we all do and that’s alright, we can’t be perfect all the time! ๐Ÿ™‚ Sometimes I get too busy and forget things, so I try not to be too, too busy, but you never know from minute to the next what could happen. Especially on Holidays, now that is a doozy, that really gets my days all confused. We are humans after all, mistakes and things happen. Have a Great day! Take Care. God Bless you.

    • Alicia Haney, what a sweet note. Thank you. And like, you, my life can take a quick nose-dive or right turn or get stuck in quicksand without a warning because we’ve got a big family… and every now and again they need their mom or grammy or just an ice cream.

    • I have the paper one on the wall.

It’s also the local school calendar so I know when kids are off and I may have to watch them.

Then grandkids sports calendars are posted on the wall nearby because there are too many to fit on calendar squares.

Then my Google Calendar for online things (OOOPS)

      Then lists on my phone…

      Lists on the wall.

But nothing to remind me to LOOK at the lists.

      I am ridiculous.

But I get my books in on time, and everything else is a piece of cake, right?????

  5. Yes I do …. like my dental appointments! Now the dentist gives me no excuse! I get an email, voicemail message on home phone, a text on cell phone, another text day before appointment, and one more one hour prior to appointment! Yeaks!

  6. I am a cafeteria manager for a middle school and I know exactly what it means to forget something…like to order the pizza on the menu. Which wouldnโ€™t be so bad but our orders are done two weeks ahead of time so if I donโ€™t catch my mistake by the next Thursday I could be in trouble if not for the other managers who are always willing to share their overstock….yay! I just wish sometimes others would realize that just cause we carry the responsibility as the manager we are still human and make mistakes. A little Grace goes a long way when things go wrong.

    • Oh, Vicki, “I Get By With a Little Help From my Friends”, right? That could be our mantra! ๐Ÿ™‚ And I love your line “A little grace goes a long way when things go wrong”.

      BEAUTIFUL. And so true.

  7. I tell everybody that I have CRS. Can’t Remember “Stuff” When it gets bad enough, I won’t remember, and then, it won’t bother me anymore.
I keep ALL of my calendar life in a hardcopy calendar. I misplaced this calendar and almost had a heart attack looking for it. Day two of looking, I found it. What a relief. The mind is a mysterious thing that drives us all crazy at times.

    • Jerri Lynn, I’m so glad you came by… and yes, CRS! I love it!

And I love your hard copy calendar idea.

      I would lose it.

I know I would, I would set it someplace while doing something else and someone would set a stack of some nonsense on it and it would be lost until Christmas when we are required to clean/remove stacks of nonsense. ๐Ÿ™‚

But I am cheering you on!!!!!

  8. I have a calendar for writing on next to the telephone and they are surrounded by a bulletin board with all kinds of notes tacked to it. It has been our family organiser for years. And,yes, it helps if we remember to check it daily.

    • I love this system. I really need that “on the wall” eyeball effect. It spurs me. Most of the time.

And I’ve made it to a soccer game, a baseball game, a tennis tournament and a dance recital in the last 7 days, so I’m on target for being a good Grammy…:)

And we know that’s the most important calendar of all!!!!

  9. I keep a calendar right above my computer, so I try to look at it each morning. That doesn’t always happen so I miss an appt. and have to reschedule.

  10. YEs I mess things up, too or forget…lol I tryyyy to be good, organized and have it together…lol

  11. Welcome Ruth. Yes I think holidays and rotating schedules mess with most of us, sooo you are in good company. LOL And yes I mess things up all the time. For as long as I can remember, my family has just dealt with it. And my husband is so patient with me. I love my personal hero. Have a fabulous weekend.

    • Lori, we are a lot alike on that score… I’d like to consider it part of my charm…

They might have a different spin on it! ๐Ÿ™‚

But they do seem to like me!!!!

      Thanks for coming by today!
