Glorious Autumn – and a Giveaway!

Autumn… glorious autumn is here!

I love summer. I adore spring. But I think autumn just might be my favorite season. There’s something so cozy and warm and inviting about this time of year.

Here’s a few things I love about the season:

The crunch of leaves beneath my shoes.

The tangy scent that hangs in the air.

The juicy, crisp bite of a crimson-skinned apple.

The whoosh of wings and honking of geese flying overhead.

Cozy sweaters and colorful scarves.

Football games at the high school.

Piles of pumpkins.

Popcorn Cakes.

Spicy tea and hot apple cider.

Perfectly ripe pears.

Vibrant hues from burgundy and vermilion to gold that dot the landscape.

Warm afternoons and chilly evenings.

If you could bottle your favorite three things from autumn and save them in a jar to enjoy all year, what three things would they be?

Be sure to post your answer for a chance to win a copy of Dream of Her Heart – a sweet World War II romance that releases tomorrow!

  1. I love the various color of the changing leaves. Love the cool nights that brings out the boots and sweaters.

  2. The cooler weather, the smell of fireplaces or woodburning stoves and all the pumpkin and apple dessert spices…apple cider and pumpkin spice treats.

  3. I loved the change of color in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan while there. Not enough change of color here in North Central Texas.
Autumn brings the pumpkins and the spices I love to smell. Bring on anything with the smell of the spices.
The cooler weather is a relief from the heat.
So, I would bottle Colors, Spice Smells, and Cooler Temperatures.
Books are a daily with me. Wrap the bottle in them, especially yours.

  4. Good morning Shanna- I would bottle the smell of pecan pie baking, the smell of cinnamon candles, and a hearty soup simmering on the stove. I love the changing of the leaves and the crisp cool mornings. Someone is going to win an amazing book, I loved loved this book.

  6. My favorite fall things I would bottle is the cool fall evenings, football (boy I’d love to have men in football pants hanging around 24/7 ?) and the smells of fall cooking (cinnamon, soups and stews, baking of all kinds). I love fall colors too. My yard is full of pecan trees which seem to go from green to brown though so its not as exciting in my neck of the woods.

  7. I would love to have a bottle of autumn colors on the side of the mountain. Add in some pile of leaves for jumping and pumpkins

  8. I would bottle up the cooler temps, the leaves and the smells of autumn. It’s truly my favorite time of the year.

  9. Dreams of The Heart sounds wonderful. I love reading WWll romance. I’d place pumpkin pie spices, a plump and juicy pear and the beautiful colored leaves of the fall.

  10. Fall is my favorite time of the year. My three favorite things are cooler temperatures and being able to get back outside and do things again, everything pumpkin and I love the colors (even though we don’t get much in the way of leaves changing in my area).

  11. I just love Autumn/fall. The smells would be, cool weather cooking, rain and leaves. I love the cool weather, the time change how the day is longer and all the baking i do.

  14. Love the colors of Autumn leaves, I love crisp apples, I love the cooler air. Autumn is my favorite season–my birthday, my anniversary, and Thanksgiving.

  15. Fresh scent of cut hay. Apple Crisp and pumpkin spices. Like cloves, nutmeg and cinnamon. I love the color of the leaves and walking in the woods.

  18. Apple cake, roasted veggies and spiced tea. These are a few of my favorite scents and enjoyment during Autumn which is always beautiful where I live.

  19. The fragrances of autumn—outside the dry leaves, apples on the trees, grapes on the vines, fresh chopped corn for silage—inside tomatoes, onions and peppers simmering on the stove; apples and squash or pumpkin cooking with cinnamon, cloves and nutmeg; vinegar and spices for pickles.

    • One of my favorite scents growing up was the smell of silage (weird, I know) but it meant my grandpa was there helping as Dad and my brother chopped corn. Thanks for reminding me of that memory, Alice, and for stopping in today!

  20. I love the crisp air that smells of leaves, earth, and the smoke of burning leaves & brush. I love walking in the orchard and picking a crisp, tart McIntosh apple. I love the bounty of the Fall harvest.
