I love cowboys, and I love laughter, and when I can put the two together, I’m in a very happy place. So today, I thought it would be fun to share some of my favorite western-themed TV ads.
This is the most recent ad that I’ve fallen in love with. It cracks me up with the vocalized stage directions. My favorite is: “Hide the eyes, then show ’em real slow.” Makes me wonder if some of those tough movie star cowboys I loved were thinking the same thing.
Here’s another classic from Geico with the classic cowboy riding off into the sunset, only to collide with the words some careless author left hanging in the scene.
Then Direct TV did a clever series on the Settlers. These were so fun, and really made me appreciate my modern conveniences.
And true romance!
But not all western ads are funny. Some are just plain sweet. I always love the Budweiser Clydesdales, but when they come to the rescue of a lost puppy, it just melts my heart.
What are some of your favorite western-themed ads?
I’m sure there are some classics I’m forgetting.

Good morning Karen- you picked my favorite, The Lost dog commercial with the Budweiser Clydesdales, actually all those Budweiser commercials melt my heart. Great blog. Love this.
Also I loved all the George Strait commercials both w/ Tractor Supply & Cavenders.
Ah, yes, the George Strait commercials. Good call, Tonya. 🙂
The Budweiser commercials have always been my favorites.
Those Cydesdales are just such majestic creatures. If they are in the commercial, I’m a fan.
The Lost Puppy melts my heart and sou!. Budweiser have some awesome commercials. I’m sure there more that I can’t remember.
Carol Luciano
I like the poignant ones better than the silly ones. Didn’t care much for the Clydesdales playing football, but so many others made my heart happy.
I always loved the Budweiser commercials.
Can’t beat those horses!
The Settlers always made me laugh. The side by side comparison was funny and made me appreciate my modern conveniences.
Karen, you put cowboys and humor together so well. Your books put me in my happy place.
Me, too, Andrea! And the play on words with “settlers” made my pun-loving heart rejoice. 🙂
Thank you for your kind words about my books. I love helping people find their happy place. 🙂
Hi Karen. Yes, the Budweiser Clydesdales are favorites and I cry every time. This is dating me and they aren’t allowed now but I remember the Marlboro ads on both TV and in magazines. The cowboy on the horse and his choice of Marlboro cigarettes…..
Thank you and Blessings!

Yes, those Marlboro men made iconic cowboy images. I’m glad smoking is no longer being glamourized, but I do miss those hunky cowboys. 😉
I love the budweiser ads too. Clydesdales are one of my favorite horses.
Me, too, Kim. They are strong yet graceful. A marvelous combination.
The only ones I’d seen before were the settlers (since I watch very little TV does that make me a settler too?? lol ) so thank you for the laughs and the touching Budweiser commercial. Thank you for your wonderful books too.
You are so welcome, Eliza. A giggle a day keeps the doctor away. 🙂
Besides all the wonderful Budweiser commercials, the one where the cowboys are herding cats always makes me laugh.
I’d forgotten about that one! Great addition, Catslady. 🙂
My husband and I love those settlers commercials! We laugh all the time! But I love those draft horse commercials for the beer company. We’re not beer drinkers but those commercials are so sweet!
I agree, Cori. Just can’t beat those Clydesdales.
The Clydesdale are the best.
The Budweiser Clydesdales ads are always winners. The one above with the puppy is one of my favorites. Oddly, they only had one that really isn’t very good and it took place in a western town setting. There is one with cowboys herding cats that is funny. If you want to count them in, there is a series of adds for Velveeta macaroni and cheese with two prospectors and their campfire in the grocery store.
Great additions, Patricia. I had forgotten about the prospectors.
Love the Budweiser ones.
As a kid I remember Lorne Greene doing Alpo commericals. He’s the iconic Bonanza star. And this Chuck Wagon commercial:

Ah, yes, the chuck wagon dog food. I had completely forgotten about those. Thanks for the walk down memory lane, Denise. 🙂
I love those Clydesdales!
