Brand New Covers!!

lindaname.jpgI hadn’t planned to blog on this, but when Amazon posted these brand spanking new covers for my e-books yesterday I had to share. I’m a proud mama showing off her babies. LOL!

Sometimes a little make-over is a good thing and can bring new life to something. I’m hoping this is the case.

Redemption2My sister Jan who blogged at P&P a month or so ago put me in contact with an awesome cover designer by the name of Donna Osborn Clark. This woman is so talented. Her website is called Creations by Donna. She’s just amazing. These were her first cowboy covers and I couldn’t be happier with the final product.

For those who haven’t read these here is a little about each:

REDEMPTION is the story of two people who are desperately trying to find a way to reclaim a piece of their soul after they escape horrifying events. Brodie Yates is known as Shenandoah and a rebel spy during the war. Now he’s being hunted down so he can be tried for his crimes. Laurel James was kidnapped and held captive in a brothel, forced to do unspeakable things. She only wants to feel clean again. They come together in Redemption, Texas that sits on the banks of Big Cypress Bayou. But can they learn to trust in themselves and each other?

KNIGHT ON THE TEXAS PLAINS finds Duel McClain in a saloon where he sits down at a poker table and ends up with a baby girl when he has the winning hand. On his way back to his farm in the Hill Country, a woman stumbles into the light of his campfire. Jessie Foltry is hungry and afraid and running for her life. The last thing she expected to find was a cowboy and a baby. Duel persuades her to come along and help him care for the child. But can they patch up their broken lives and become a family? And is it too much to ask for love along the way?

TheCowboyWhoCameCalling1THE COWBOY WHO CAME CALLING opens with Glory Day shooting Luke McClain in the leg while they’re both trying to capture a terrorizing outlaw. Glory needs the reward in order to save her family’s farm and Luke needs the capture to help him get his job back with the Texas Rangers. While recovering in Glory’s home, Luke sees her desperate plight and vows to help her all he can before he hits the trail again. But Glory sees his “help” as meddling and tells him so. She just wishes this cowboy who keeps calling would find someone else to save. But when her eyesight suddenly begins to fail, she’s grateful to have his arms around her. Maybe having him near isn’t such a bad thing. But the real question is…can the meddlesome cowboy be tamed?

Here in the Texas Panhandle, we do love our cowboys. There's just something about a man in a Stetson and jeans that makes my heart beat faster. I'm not much of a cook but I love to do genealogy and I'm a bit of a rock hound. I'm also a NY Times & USA Today bestselling author of historical western romance. You can contact me through my website and I'd love to connect with you on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest and more. HAPPY READING!

  3. Good morning, Maxie! I’m so glad you like the new covers. I’m tickled to death with them. Knight on the Texas Plains was my first book and it came out in 2002. The Cowboy Who Came Calling was 2003. And Redemption released in 2005. You can still find the print versions in a few places. I put them up as e-books in February last year. Good luck in the drawing!

  4. Good Morning, Emma! Glad you like the new covers. They’re all so pretty. I love the make-overs. Sometimes changing things can make them new again. Good luck in the drawing!

  5. Good Morning, Sheila G! I’m so happy to share these with you. I’m a new mama showing off her babies. So proud of them all, but The Cowboy Who Came Calling just seems a little more special. The colors are bright and the images crisp. Good luck in the drawing!

  6. Good Morning Cathy……….Seems like we have a consensus. Cowboy wins. That story was very close to my heart. And that one won the National Readers’ Choice Award for best historical. Good luck in the drawing!

  7. GREAT covers, Linda. They’re all very eye-catching. I especially like the cover for Knight on the Texas Plains. I immediately know what the books going to be about without even reading the blurb. FABULOUS!!!

  8. Gorgeous covers, Linda! Each one is like a story, inviting the reader to know more about these beautiful people.

I have REDEMPTION on my Kindle. Can’t wait to read it!

  9. Thank you for sharing your “babies” with us, Linda. You should certainly be proud; they are beautiful! I love that the covers tell their own story. The Cowboy Who Came Calling is my favorite!

  10. Crystal GB………Thanks for the compliment. I really think these covers show more what each story is about. The great thing about doing covers yourself is that you can tailor the images to show something about the story. Good luck in the drawing!

  11. Hi Renee………..Thanks for the kind words. I do think the images show more what each book is about. They’re definitely not cookie cutter ones. I chose the graphics according to the people and the story. For instance I gave the people the same hair and eye coloring that they have in the book. Most publishing houses don’t do that.

    Have a wonderful blessed day!

  12. Hi Elizabeth………You’ll have to let me know how you like Redemption. I wish there was a way to get the new cover onto the book on your Kindle. Darn it!

Hi Pearl………Thanks for the compliments. I do think these are very special. Glad you like them. Good luck in the drawing!

Hi Britney……….Thanks for stopping by. I’m so glad you like my “babies.” I really do like Cowboy’s cover also. I think it’s because it’s lighter colors and I love that blue font. Good luck in the drawing!

Hi Diane…………..Glad you could stop by. Thanks for liking my “babies.” Each one is very special. Good luck in the drawing!

  13. Hi Amy C…………..Glad you could stop by. I love these compliments. The lady who designed these is very talented. She loves what she does and it shows in her work. She prays over each and asks God to show her what she should do. I was so grateful to find her. Good luck in the drawing!

Hi Anne…………Thanks for stopping by. I’m enjoying chatting with everyone. Cowboy’s cover is very crisp and clean and I think people are loving the blue font. Good luck in the drawing!

Hi Anon1001……….Thank you for the compliment. Good luck in the drawing!

  14. congrats!!! What a nice feeling for you to see something you worked so hard on come to life! the covers are fantastic! you can already see the story unfolding just by looking at the characters on the cover. the cowboys especially are very appealing to the eye 🙂

  15. Hi Cori……….Thanks for coming by. I’m enjoying all the comments today. I’m so glad you like the covers. I think they’re all fantastic. But then, I may be just a tad bit prejudiced. LOL Good luck in the drawing for the gift card!

  16. Hello Linda,

First time commenter, though I’ve been reading this site for a while.

What I really like about these great covers is that each one taps back to the old-time western novel cover in that both title and cover image speak to the theme of the novel without revealing anything extra.

For example, Knight of the Texas Plains shows Duel McClain tipping his hat in Jessie’s direction, which showcases (in my mind) a kind of chivalry contrasted by the two pair behind him. In a way, the cover is saying that while he’s a gambler, he still has an inherent nobility about him.

My definite favorite, though, is Redemption. Here we have Brodie and Laurel, each one displays distrust complimentary to their character. Brodie, hunted for being a rebel, has his hat over his eyes, his leg in a shooter’s stance, and a hand on his gun. Laurel, forced to disgrace herself in a brothel, lowers her eyes shamefully and has her face turned as if she can’t bear to face the audience head on.

Maybe I’m reading too much into it, but it’s a trend I noticed in other westerns that I’m glad is still going with your books.

  17. Cover make-overs are a great idea!
Because stories never get old…but covers can use a little spruce up to keep them fresh 🙂

My hands down favorite is Redemption–very hot!
    Love it!
The story really appeals to me too, so I’m gonna check it out!

Congratulations on the new look and thank you for the chance at the gift cert!

  18. These are all great covers, I love that they totally embrace that they’re westerns. My favorite is The Cowboy Who Came Calling, I like how there’s the solo shot of her in the background, establishing that she’s her own “cowboy” but then we see her girly side in the cameo in the foreground as well.

  19. Linda, Thank you so much for the shout out! It was truly a pleasure working with you to design your new covers. I loved getting to know your characters and bringing them to life on each cover. W O W!!! Thanks for inviting me over here. I love seeing all of this amazing feedback! I am looking forward to creating more cowboy covers. *smiles* I wish you much success and many blessings in all that you do.

  20. Hi Ellie………Thanks for coming by and commenting. I’m glad you have a favorite. The Cowboy cover is really spectacular. I love them all though. Like a mother it’s hard to say one child is prettier than the rest. LOL Good luck in the drawing!

  21. Hi Charlene…….Yes, these were first in print with Dorchester and I got my rights back. I’m glad to get them up as e-books. I’m glad you like the covers. I’m anxious to see how your e-book cover is going to look. Can’t wait to see which pose you used.

  22. Hi Frindlesmith………I’m so glad you felt at ease enough to comment. I loved your assessment of the covers. You have it absolutely right. I chose each image according to the story and tailored them specifically for that. Most big publishers these days give cookie-cutter covers. And most spend hardly any amount of time or thought on them. I’m glad to know you visit the site often and hope you’ll continue to do so. We always have something interesting going on and give away a lot of books and prizes. I’ve entered your name in the drawing for the gift card.

  23. Hi Colleen……….I’m so glad you enjoyed seeing my new covers. I always like looking at covers but when I have a new book coming out I’m chewing my nails. It’s always stressful. You never know what you’ll get. So I was thrilled to get to say what I wanted and have Donna Osborn Clark design them for me. She’s an immensely talented lady with great vision. Good luck in the drawing!

Hi Tabitha………Thank you for coming by. Glad you think Redemption’s cover is really hot. I think so too. I hope you do get a chance to read the story. And Good Luck in the drawing!

Hi Summer……….Thank you so much! I’m glad you like the covers. When I first talked to Donna Osborn Clark about possible designs for The Cowboy Who Came Calling, I knew I wanted the gold locket and a couple inside it. Donna found exactly what I wanted but then she added the solo woman looking down at it and I knew it was perfect. Good luck in the drawing for the gift card!

Hi Goldie……….The covers are what draw me to a book also. They’re the first thing you see and you usually know if you want to buy the book by the cover alone. If I don’t like the cover, I usually pass on the story. Good luck in the drawing!

  24. Hi Donna Osborn Clark………..Yay, you made it!! See what a stir these covers are making? It’s unusual to have this many comments on a blog. I was thrilled to get a chance to blog on this. I’d decided on another subject because I wasn’t sure when Amazon would post the new covers. Glad they did it yesterday. The timing was perfect. The readers all like these but most are saying their favorite is The Cowboy Who Came Calling. Maybe it’s because of the blue font and lighter colors. Don’t know but its a success as is the other two. Thank you so much for seeing my vision on all of them and showing what God revealed to you. You’re a dear, dear friend and I can’t imagine that I went so long in my life without you in it. Take care, precious lady, and keep doing what you love. Don’t ever doubt the reason you were born and what you job here on earth is. I love you!

  25. You already know what I think about the covers. Each one is totally amazing! Donna Osborn Clark has been such a blessing in my life and it was such a joy to get to share her expertise with you. I truly hope other authors will seek her out, because she listens to what God tells her about each cover and they turn out perfect!

  26. I love the new covers, they are totally awesome. There different and really stand out. I can’t wait to read these books Sound really good. Thanks for sharing them with us today.

  27. Hi Jan……….I love it when you stop by. Yes, Donna certainly outdid herself with these. They’re just awesome. I hope this new publicity translates into more sales. And yes, I fully recommend her to any author who is looking for a cover designer. They can’t go wrong. And the price is so reasonable. She’s just an amazing, talented lady. I didn’t find just a cover designer, I found a friend as well. Can’t wait for you to get here tomorrow. We’re gonna have fun. Love you!

  28. Hi Quilt Lady………Thanks for coming by and commenting. Glad you like the new covers. You may have already read these books because they’ve been out a while. I just gave them a make-over. Good luck in the drawing!

  29. I love the covers; am really anxious to read your books!
And would love an Amazon gift card!

  30. Nice covers. Better yet, the stories inside sound pretty good. I have enjoyed your stories in the “Texan” anthologies and am sure I will enjoy these too. I look forward to reading them.

I hope sales of these e-books are going well.

  31. Love these covers, Linda! And I adore each of the stories so well represented by each. Congrats!
