Gumdrop Cake
Donna Alward
1/2 cup Margarine
1 cup white sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp vanilla
1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp baking powder
2 cups flour
1 cup milk
1 cup gum drops (no black) chopped, or baking gums
Cream margarine and sugar, beat in eggs 1 at a time. Add vanilla. Mix together flour, salt, and baking powder. Add to the mixture, alternating with the milk until smooth.
Dust gumdrops with flour (to keep them from sticking together). Add to batter. Grease and flour a funnel or bundt pan. Bake at 350 until toothpick comes out clean. Wrap in foil and let ripen for 1 week (if you can stand to wait that long!).
Both of these are great. But I especially love the instruction on Donna’s “no black” gumdrops! I suppose that would make a mess!
Thanks, Julie
Hope everyone had a great Christmas! These both look like great recipes!

Both of these look great. I will be sure to try them. I’m sure the reason for “no black” gumdrops is that in my kitchen I eat those. What can I say, it’s licorice.
These wreaths are delicious. Also kids have a LOT of fun with them.
Except green fingers.
Merry Christmas everyone.
I love recipes and is always trying new ones.

The black licorice kind of overpowers, so you have to leave them out. and besides, the other colours are so pretty. 🙂 Cutting up the gumdrops is the worst part, but the last few years we’ve bought baking gums and cut them in half.
These look like fun. And so simple that even I can manage them.
Thanks for sharing–and have a happy New Year!
Just one word of comment: YUM!
