This filly and her hubby went to a California high school together but were not sweethearts. Mostly because she was a dork and he was Football Team Captain/boyfriend of  the Homecoming Queen-Head Cheerleader. They didn’t date until after she went to college in Nebraska. She actually picked “Deliverance” for her first date with him.  If you have seen this movie, you will marvel along with her that he asked her out a second time.Deliverance photo

Stacey Coverstone: Third Time’s a Charm

CoverThirdTimesACharmThe second book in my Wild West Adventure Series is called Third Time’s A Charm, and it features Sabra Bennett, a fiery redhead, who flees 1882 Boston society life for wild, untamed Colorado Territory with a secret.  Upon arriving in the mountains, Sabra meets Irishman, Noah Tucker, a man of considerable charm and dizzying good looks. Tucker has spent years sailing the high seas and sampling a woman in every port, but is now settled in Gumption, Colorado, intent on raising sheep.  He immediately has thoughts of making the spirited woman his mistress—much to her displeasure.

When Jason Lord, wealthy cattleman and archenemy of Tucker, sets his sights on Sabra, an already volatile situation between the two men rages out of control.   She soon realizes that starting a new life on the run comes with problems, as does being the object of affection for more than one man. With memories of the past never far from her mind, Sabra falls for the one man she can trust with her secret, and her heart.

Gumption is a fictional small town in Northwestern Colorado Territory.  It’s based on other towns like it that were built, practically overnight, by settlers wanting to start fresh and flocking to places where land could be bought cheap.

WesternTown

My character, Tucker, is one of those settlers.

Sheep

While creating a character who is handsome, sexy, and not afraid of anything or anyone, I also wanted my hero to be a man with a great sense of humor and a bigger than life personality.  One of the ways I accomplished this was to have him quoting his “dear ‘ol Da” often—sometimes to the point of driving Sabra insane.  It was fun researching Irish sayings and verses that Tucker could spout.  Here are just a few of the entertaining quotes I found (and these aren’t even ones I used in the story):

She has a tongue that would clip a hedge.  (a gossip)

The gift of gab is only a gift for the gabber. (said of a talkative person)

If it were raining soup, he’d go out with a fork. (someone who is stupid)

He is always in the field when luck is on the road.  (of an unfortunate one)

If he’s not fishing, he’s mending his nets.  (someone who always plans carefully)

He’d steal the sugar out of your punch. (said of a clever thief)

He couldn’t hit a hole in a ladder. (regarding bad aim in shooting)

She burnt her coal and did not warm herself.  (said of a woman with a bad marriage)

I hope you’ll enjoy this book, which also brings back the beloved characters of Josie and Grey from Outlaw Trail, Book 1 of the Wild West Adventure Series.  My novel releases April 1 with Champagne Books.  http://www.champagnebooks.com
