Giving Thanks

Happy Thanksgiving everyone.  Here’s hoping all of you will be celebrating in your own way.  For today I decided to write a simple list of things I’m thankful for and ask you add your own.  But with each item I wrote, I couldn’t help thinking about the people in the world—even in this country—who don’t enjoy the basic blessings that most of us take for granted.  It’s my wish that as you read my list, and maybe lengthen it, you’ll remember these people with compassion and that you’ll share my hopes for peace on earth and the betterment of all lives.  Here’s my list.

  1. I’m thankful for the people who risk their lives every day to keep me and my loved ones safe.

2. I’m thankful for my family and for the loving memories of those who are no longer with me.

3. I’m thankful for books and for the people who wrote them.

4. I’m thankful for friends who share their lives with me.

5.  I’m thankful for all the modern conveniences that make my life pleasant—the computer, the appliances, the lights and water, the TV and stereo.  I’m grateful that with the flick of a switch I can hear beautiful music.

6. I’m thankful for two silly cats who wake me up laughing every morning.

7. I’m thankful to live in a time when women can wear comfortable clothes and shoes.

8.  I’m thankful for parents who gave me the education that’s made all the difference.

9. I’m grateful for work—and for the gift of being able to do work I love.

How about you?  Are you counting your blessings today?  What are you thankful for?

  2. Good morning, everyone, and Happy Thanksgiving.

Thank you Danielle and Pam for your beautiful thoughts. I’ll be in and out today, as will many of you, but looking forward to hearing from more of you.

  3. Happy Thanksgiving everyone. I’m ready to leave the house now and drive to my daughter’s house. All four of my girls will be there and I’m so, so, so, so thankful for them.

We’ll have so much fun and eat delicious food. It’s a time to remember to be grateful for all my blessings in a world where there is so much need.

Thank YOU, Elizabeth, for these good words.

  6. Happy Thanksgiving everyone!!

I’m so grateful for laughter because it keeps us sane.
And for memories that remind me how far I’ve come.
I’m so grateful for the love of family, for the country in which we live, for food and shelter, and for the people who risk their lives for mine.

My list is rather extensive and you’ve already mentioned a lot of the things I’m grateful for so I won’t repeat them.

Everyone eat a lot of turkey!!

  7. I’m thankful for family and friends(pets included), a roof over my head, food on the table, and the authors who write the books I read.

  8. Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!!

I’m thankful for a lot, probably the most important is that I can celebrate Thanksgiving with my family in such a great country and that we have all the protected freedoms that we do in the U.S. Without the opportunities that my grandparents had when they immigrated here, my family wouldn’t be where we are today and I wouldn’t be able to do what I love.

So thanks to our military men and women here and abroad who are trying to protect us, our freedom and the freedom of others. You’re always in my thoughts and prayers.

  9. Happy Thanksgiving to all! Are y’all stuffed like me.
I am so thankful for my family and my families health. I am thankful for having plenty of food to eat. For the Freedom we have in this country. I am thankful to have all you fillies here to share my love of books, cowboys and romance.

My list could go on and on but I pretty much agree with all things that have been mentioned.

    Have a Great Thanksgiving!!!
