NanoRama! Let’s Be Buddies!

nano_participant_icon_large.gifWell, tomorrow is the first of November and some of us have been waiting for the big day.  I know there are probably quite a few of us doing NaNoWriMo (National Write a Book in a Month), and if you are, please buddy me so we can root for each other’s progress!

I’m CherylStJohn

What are you working on?

I’m going to work on two different contracted books.  First I’ll work on one that isn’t due for a while, but I want to be writing until I get a revision letter for the one that’s due sooner, then I’ll switch and work on that one.  Make perfect sense?  I know, I confuse myself sometimes.

Do you use your Alphasmart or a laptop for Nano?  Gives my backside a break from The Chair.

 Go Nano-ers!

  1. I had to admit, Cheryl, I’ve always been a big chicken when it came to the WRITE A BOOK A MONTH challange. Three months nearly drove me insane *lol* But what great motivation!!!

Big cheers for all you NaNoWriMo’ers!!!!

  2. I’m doing NaNo again this year. I thought I would have to wait to find you over there, but then I remembered that even though the search members is down right now, I might be able to find you through NaNoMail and sure enough- I found you as I started typing who I wanted to send to.

    Over there I’m~

Last year was my first year and I wasn’t sure I could do it at all. It had taken me over 10 years to finish my first novel (Life/work always seemed to get in the way before.) I finished my first in September of last year and then I heard about NaNo for the first time. I was scared but tried it anyway.

I hit 50k on November 12th and was I EVER proud! I didn’t think I had it in me. By the end I had a finished first draft of an 80K novel, which I’ve been doing revisions on the past few days, though I’m going to have to put it to the side to concentrate on this new one.

(I also challenged myself back in the middle of July to the beginning of August and wrote a 3rd first draft and now I’m going to be working on my 4th one.)

The one I’m doing this year I’ve given the working title “Haunted Melody.” It’s a contempory romance about a country singer who’s past comes back to haunt her when she has to return home.

I only have my desktop computer, so I’ll be parked in front of it through NaNo, though I know I’ll have to take breaks here and there(besides, my 4 year old probably won’t let me sit here constantly anyway! LOL)

I’ll be blogging my NaNo experience on all three of my blogs more than likely. If anyone wants to read about my adventure, just click on my name here and it will take you to my blogspot, which also has other links to other sites of mine(LiveJournal and Myspace) as well as my favorite writing blogs and such.

  3. Stacey, I’ve only done Nano once before, but many of the participants are true die hards!

Taryn, I admire you for your incredible effort and writing accomplishment while being the mother of a four year old! Wow! I didn’t get serious about writing until my youngest went to first grade, and even then I didn’t get dead serious until a few years later. Good for you. Thanks for finding me on Nano!
