Dear Pat:
We met years ago at the Moonlight and Magnolias conference and I have been a fan ever since. But I never knew we shared a love of Elswyth Thane! My mother introduced me to her books when I was 13 and she is still one of my favorite authors(along with Georgette Heyer and Maud Hart Lovelace).

Enjoyed the story!

I know that one [g]. That's one of the best things about history, the way it resonates with us now.

Thanks for the wonderful story.

Thanks for all the comments and even more for the kind words. I love to hear what inspired writers to pick up that pen, or typewriter or computer and spin their tales. I think probably 50 of my 60 plus books were inspired by some snippet of history.

What a great story, Pat. I love Civil War history for the same reasons you do, the internal conflicts to go with the external. And aren't we all lucky you became a writer?

Great post Pat. I'd never heard of General Sibley even though I've lived in Louisiana my whole life and for the last 30+ years have lived not to far from the town of Sibley (one of the two towns bearing that name in North Louisiana)
