Hi Connie, What interesting uses for hair! In an age when rubber bands weren't common, using one's own hair to make a pony tail makes perfect sense. I wonder what the crown of the bridal veil looks like, if it's braided or woven tight. Interesting . . .

I love reading these blogs. They often abring back forgotten memories. My friend has a wedding veil in which the crown was woven fron the brides hair collected for years. I also cared for an elderly lady who pulled the hair from her brush to tie around her hair before placing it in a bun or pony tail. She never used bands or even thread, just her own hair.

Hello Melinda! I've learned a lot from P&P, no doubt about it. As a matter of fact, when I start researching a new story, I begin here with the "search" feature to see what other Fillies have already found out. Very cool!

Hi Colleen! I started off thinking the whole "hair" thing was pretty weird, but given the times and the resources people had, saving hair makes sense. Not that I plan to start or anything . . . : )
