Especially hear in Nebraska where winter and spring weather get all mixed up. Mine were starting to come up when the snow that had covered them since last November melted. They survived sub freezing temps, more snow and even some freezing rain, but they are now blooming like crazy. The daffodils have to be the toughest little buggers in the world. Thanks for the dose of California! I lived north of Los Angeles, at the top of the "grapevine," aka Interstate 5, for about 8 years. This time of year, those hills would be solid orange with poppies. Lilacs---that's the bush my mom-in-law has. They have a really strong, distinct fragrance--I love it :) I so miss our irises. I might have to plan a flowerbed mutiny ;-) Green Glop---too funny!!
