Memorial Day

Published at May 26th, 2008 in category Holiday Fun

I had intended to write about a mistake a reader found in my current release, THE LONER, today, but I’ll save that for next time.  (Love having a blog idea in the bank.)

Instead, I’m taking my blog in a different direction today as we pause to honor of those who have fought and died in defense of our nation.

I’ve blogged before about my allegiance to Texas A&M University and all things maroon and white.  As part of that, I’m a member of an internet community called Texags.com.  Over the past few years I’ve watched another Texags regular start something really special.  I want to introduce you to an Aggie friend of mine, Brad Blauser, and Wheelchairs for Iraqi Kids. Please take a minute to read the CNN story or watch Brad’s Youtube.

Happy Memorial Day, P&P’ers.

God Bless America.

  1. Happy Memorial Day, everyone!! I hope we take a minute or two and pause to remember all we hold dear and what it would mean to have it taken away. Americans take so many things for granted, but I guess that’s human nature. I want to always remember why we’re free and pay tribute to our military.

Geralyn, you’re involved in a lot of worthy causes! Iraqi children are definitely deserving of our help. I think it’s great that people step up and fill the need.

  2. Inspiring post, Geralyn! Thank you for sharing :)

Wishing everyone happy and safe Memorial day.

  3. Hi Geralyn, I think it’s amazing how your friend has helped so many of these kids and families in such a great way. My family has sent care packages to some of the soldiers that we have learned about in Iraq through family and friends. We didn’t realize the need for so many of these kids there, though.
Thanks for the info. We went on the website and made a donation.
    Have a wonderful Memorial Day.

  4. What a lovely young man and what a wonderful idea!
My next stop is the website to make a donation!
Thanks for bringing this story to us. God bless
Brad and all those involved in the project. I hope
more readers are called to come to the aid of the
    children.

  5. Geralyn - What a wonderful inspiring article about the Wheelchairs to Iraqi kids. I will make a donation as well today. Thanks for reminding us why we celebrate this day in the U.S.
